Out of everything, Apple only proud of their security.

Other than that, Google is leading.

s-pen pusher, 09 Jul 2019yes, google is open about it and it is in their t&c. it... morei forgot to add this- going back to late 2010 and early 2011 when ipad was new, there was this issue where credit card details on ipads were intercepted when it was being backed up to the apple server. i know this is a security issue instead and that they have addressed that vulnerability so far, but the fact that ipad users were made to believe that the information would never leave the device but turns out it is being backed up in apple's servers was in itself a privacy issue, and that apple never disclosed this process until sh!t happened.

Anonymous, 09 Jul 2019The moment you activate an Android phone, your data is alre... moreyes, google is open about it and it is in their t&c. it also states that there is no human intervention in handling your information, so transmission and analysis is done by machine to machine. although google does collect information, at least it is encrypted and not accessible to humans; or at least that's what they say. then again at least they let you know how your information is handled.

now, with apple, iphones and ipad collect information as well but apple says it never leaves the device. then right before fappening in 2014 apple was scrutinized for evidences of ios devices sending those information to a remote server at night when the phone is idle. apple defended that it is just to back it up so that it doesnt take up space in the devices' memory space. people argued why not just delete them after sometime if it is not needed by apple and apple did not have an argument. then 3 years after with ios11, people were complaining they were being served ads on some apps and safari relevant to their location. people found that their wifi, bluetooth, and gps remained turned on even if they turn it off in the control center. apple admitted later in 2017 that ios11 was made so that you are unable to really turn off those radios to give you the "best experience", which translates to them to have used those radios to triangulate your location and to serve you ads. going back to late 2010 and early 2011

with that, at least google lets you know before you sign up for their services, while apple screws you over first and hopes no one will notice then apologizes.

Putting aside the fact that Siri is sending all kinds of data about you back to Apple's servers, what exactly to people think all those apps on their iPhones are doing? Hoovering up data and sending it off to third parties.

Apple could stop third party apps from doing this, but they don't want to. Letting apps spy on you is part of Apple's business model, just as much as it is for Google.

People don't buy iPhone to only use the in house Apple apps. They buy them to use Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps (because Apple maps will never catch up), Snapchat, games, etc. And that's where 99% of the tracking it happening.

It's like Apple is pretending they are making a phone that people only use as a phone and not to run apps. Apple is just completely full of it. And they are doing their users a disservice by obscuring the real privacy problems on the iPhone and pretending they don't exist.

Use VPN ... There is a free app that uses Thor browser security. I is called Orbot. Use it!!!

The moment you activate an Android phone, your data is already headed somewhere and being compiled. Location, contacts, keywords for ads.

Google themselves admitted giving away data to hundreds of firms, and even tracking you even if you disable it.

                https://globalnews.ca/news/4393667/google-location-tracking-history/

But its ok, Android fans think this is a cool feature. Open system right? Apple is closed right? Listen, tonight, before going to bed, please open all the doors to your house, only then switch off the lights and go to bed.

But what else is there to use for those of us who don't want Apple? Windows Phone will be gone in a few months, I know some companies have they're own OS that most people have never heard of, but how often do those phones get updated with security patches, and what's the point of switching for privacy reasons if you're using Google services and apps on that phone and if those companies collect data just like Google does only they don't get any heat because it's not as popular?

I would like to know some solutions other than just a VPN, because while I enjoy using Android, I don't like Apple's OS and their overpriced phones either.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2019When you said intelligent search results from Google, were ... moreYou live in an ideal world. No search result is 100% unbiased because in the first place, nobody knows what unbiased search results ranking is. Google does its best to offer you what it thinks are the top best search results based on what other users in your area clicked on the most, based on sites that have the most engagement interest, popularity, while also promoting their own services along with the search results, the percentage weighing of which, nobody knows. The search algorithm Google uses is regularly updated, improving with time and is what made it the most intelligent, popular and intuitive search engine out there. To claim that Apple's Safari outputs search results based on RANDOM websites without any 'unbiased' algorithm speaks of ignorance. Every search engine is designed to rank results in a certain way (there's already bias in there) depending on whose viewpoint/ranking methodology you consider as correct. Heck people can't even agree here what is the best phone, how much more for search engines to agree which search results should be ranked first, last, or filtered as 'offensive, racist, sexist, etc.' and not displayed at all. It's really the case of the pot (Apple) calling the kettle (Google) black. Pure hipocrisy from Apple as if it doesn't do any profiling of its users and as if its search algorithms and recommendations are the best, the most correct and most unbiased in the world.

Google will be able to know how many people visits a place.. then show you on the map is it busy or not. Now, with large amount of collected data, they are able to predict it, sell to other companies as ads for profit

They actively collects from you, even in privacy mode in browsers, by taking the browser id / ip / so on and so on. So vpn is all the rage now..

Yeah.. they have tons of privacy issue.. but they claim its for your enjoyment, better suggestions, better quality. so on and so on. So its a double edge sword, the more you want, the more you need to give.

Apple may say iPhone has good privacy, but if you use google services on iPhone, you will still get your info taken by google.

But unless you are a bad guy, i do not see the harm of that.. you have to give to receive. Nothing in the world is free.
