Anonymous, 13 Jul 2019Well you are partially correct here. but here is the thing,... moreThe record number I'm talking about is for a single model of handset. Samsung and Huawei sell lots of different handsets and those numbers are their total number of handsets sold. The top ten most handsets sold ever are mainly dominated by Nokia with Nokia 1100 as the biggest selling phone ever at 250 million. Iphone 6 is 2nd most with 220 million (not 280 I previously stated) and the other 8 are mainly Nokia handsets with Nokia 3210 at 3rd.
Iphone 6 only smartphone in the list and probably won't be beaten for a long time

kalel, 13 Jul 2019I made an error mentioning xiaomi because I got mixed up by... moreZTE violated a severe trade agreement straight in 2016, anyone with sane mind would ban them after that. They were let off with huge fines and are still operating as of now. Nubia still makes phones, their telecommunication equipment is still in use by AT&T and verizon. Qualcomm still sells their chips to Nubia (1/2 ZTE) and their phones are sold in states (google zte nubia red magic). Never saw something as severe as what happened to huawei happening to ZTE. Why would a London/ Japan based company cut ties with a company sanctioned by US government ?. And you said xiaomi has problem with government, which again is not the case. I am sorry for having wrong assumption, but your implication was towards ban, which was false, so that was the premise for my argument. Sorry about that.

kalel, 13 Jul 2019And ur last part about iphone users thinking iphones as a m... moreWell you are partially correct here. but here is the thing, Many ios users demand forced upgrades from others, which is one of the reasons iphones sell. It is their walled garden approach. Say there is a group of 100 people, 70 have iphones (only talking about states here), rest 30 would be forced to use iphones to not be left out thanks to that thing called imessage, which is why i have a iphone 5s (and my android device as main one) myself, just so that i can stay in touch with my colleagues. I will probably buy a 7 since my 5s is on last legs. Most people can not recognize which iphone they have, yet they buy it YoY. An average contract in here is 2 years, so what was 230 in 2015, should be at least 200 if all in US are upgrading after 4 years (they usually do so after 2, but I am assuming that iphone 6 users would want something else by now).
And P.S 230 is not a record, Samsung sells more routinely. Huawei reached 200 last year while apple got 185 odd (by IDC estimates, which we use in academia and most report sites use). That just shows a downward trend, which is a fact. Again I am not against them, all i dont like is
        1. Fans and zealots who force others to update for their sake
        2. Their approach to keep their stuff proprietary. Why on earth can I not charge my android device and iphone with same cable? why the walled garden, when they were built on top of open source stuff?

There are many factors why 250 in 2015 ( a record from smartphones I don't think will be broken for a while) and 180 now. Some of those reasons are because people hold on to their new phones longer now. Phones tend to have minor upgrades year on year past few years. Now there are many more different brands to choose from and even now the number 180 is highly impressive.

Almost all Chinese companies like motorola, xiaomi, lenovo, operate without any restrictions in US. The only company that overtook apple doesn't.
                    2. Matters were completely under the ground for 6 whole years. If there was a problem in that time then who was responsible?
                    3. Apple is kinda used frequently as example of perfect marketing, I can't deny that and I respect them for that. Steve jobs himself said that good artists copy, great artist steal. If you can market stolen goods in protected market, that is good (same happens in china). Try it in open market, that is where your true value is shown. Jobs crafted that perfect image of apple with utmost care, only for the weak base to drag it down. Apple sold 250 million phones in 2015-16, why is it 180 now? It is their ability to put a veil over a commoners eye that i respect.
                    4. Look i am not against apple in any way, their phones are great. Just not for me or my friends, but the fans acting like they are messiahs of phones and best thing since sliced bread is something that irks me more than anything. I so much want my friend sell them iphone 6 instead of iphone 7, but legal litigation is far to severe anyways.

I never even said they were banned anywhere in my post. I actually said they had troubles with USA government. Having troubles with whoever doesn't mean the same as being banned. My error was mistakenly saying xiaomi but it was actually ZTE. Another Chinese company getting blacklisted by USA government. And they weren't blacklisted Bcuz apple were scared either and same with the Huawei saga too. Nothing got to do with apple. China know what's happening. They know so much more than you would ever know and if they knew apple played a part getting Huawei banned then they would ban apple in China too don't u think? Again, if there's no proof then u shouldn't turn a conspiracy into fact Bcuz they are completely opposite meanings.

U also used the word baseless. Your conspiracy theories without any proof at all is the better use of the word baseless

                        2. Xiaomi sells its stuff(mostly accessories) on walmart, amazon, best buy and other major retailers. Their mi box is sold directly by google. Where on earth are they banned then? They are coming with their phones in US in 2019 3rd quarter or by 2020. They had to slow down due to departure of hugo barra. Where did you get your baseless argument that they are banned?

And for your information u don't have to be famous to have your phone hacked. If it gets stolen for example then u don't want others going through ur information do you? So don't know why u brought up having to be famous.

And the link u provided is pointless. It doesn't say anywhere if there are problems with face id. Its just about general things which can happen to any phone. Such as getting jam from a kids fingers on ur device for example. That article was pointless to use against face id. And the second link u provided was hilarious. Obviously if u wear sunglasses which cover ur face and eyes then it would have issues. What's the fix? Simple. Remove your sunglasses. Unless someone had both their arms amputated then I would say yes it's a problem.
And I stopped taking u seriously with your last paragraph. I find it hilarious that u think that having a trade war between USA and China is all about helping apple. That's is pure laughable unless u got any proof. Any proof?? No. Didn't think so
