Huawei's filed for another trademark for an OS - Harmony

The name joins Ark as a potential moniker for the in-house HongMeng OS to replace Android and Windows, should the need arise.

Lol people even don't like shit and heavily bloated emui they are using it for sake of android. So who will gonna use their so called HongMeng OS to capture all the users data to chinese servers.

    I think Harmony OS will fail because users need banking apps, Bank ID..., and I can not see any western banks developing apps for an OS made by Huawei, a company accused of spying for the Chinese dictators!

      What I hate is that most of the time, the president cherry-picks which states he/she wants to represent because they're their electoral base. And then you do best to please your base and not necessarily the whole of the US. Thankfully they have a strong rights system so it's not all bad. This leads to a situation where you are president of the Divided States of America. But you could say this applies almost everywhere with a democracy. Though the fact this happens in the all-powerful USA which basically rule this world is alarming

      Again if you check the latest vote results, it's virtually a tie. Technically, he's not representing the USA. Merely half of it. I don't think that's normal.

      China is, well, China. As you said, it's Obey and Shush. And we saw the lengths the China govt is ready to go for Huawei. Also the fact the Huawei CFO's fate is still in limbo with her "stuck" at her Vancouver house isn't helping.

      Darn politics. Especially geopolitics. It's broken and complicated and messy and time-consuming and gah. Can't y'all make compromises and be happy with everyone and The End?

        HongMeng is not coming at all. Read this. Even their own company chairman said that the OS is not even ideal for phones. So stop believing in what HongMeng nonsense.

It's just shows now how messy is US, no respect against president who they chose.

          China is opposite, you don't have a voice there. Better don't even say anything bad against their leader. That's why all this situation around Huawei is not so simple. Huawei is connected to government but same as Google or other huge worldwide companies.

            It's dumb, it's time-consuming, it's super polluting... but some only see the $ and forget about the rest. They end up regretting like in Ontario though...

            But please don't make generalizations like this. I live relatively near the border but there's barely anybody going to the States for gas. They do go on vacation there for some reason. Can't really think of a place that doesn't have a Canada equivalent so at least if you need medical attention you wouldn't need to sell your car to survive...

            And yes I hate US politricks as well. It's like you always have Bad Choice A or Bad Choice B. Seriously. If I had to see an election of Trump vs Biden, I'd rather watch two babies fight over a plastic toy.

                        It dont need arguments at all, its so clear Huawei speed it up because of the ban. So if its not because of orange guy, then what? Why did they speed up the work on this OS in same time the ban came.

I Honestly think they would have ended up using their own OS regardless, to have full control on it unlike what Google does with GP Certification. Plus Google is getting pretty messy and tyrannic on their OS development. When you can't even change the color of the battery status icon... I honestly think that was inevitable.

                          We don't know the scope of Huawei OS development. We don't know how many people worked on that before and after. That's just assumptions

As what Huawei stated the HongMeng OS is Plan B if the banned scenario will arise (as what happened).So if Trump didn't put Huawei in the Entity list, do you think they will still release the new OS or shall I say work on it on full capacity? I don't think so. Trump contributed a huge "relation" in terms witth the full development of the OS. So I don't think that "Unrelated to Trump" is accurate when in fact he is the major reason why Huawei worked hard on this OS when the ban was stated.
