Phones with 108MP and 10x optical zoom cameras may be coming next year

That was shared by the usually reliable @IceUniverse. Qualcomm and Credit Suisse have made similar predictions.

108MP sensors in phones are much larger than 12MP sensors, the only reason why google phones are "good" is because they have good artificial computational photography, aka they have good software and take advantage of the sensor in a better way, like you can take HDR images without ghosting because the AI detects slightly differences in the photos and aligns them. Higher MP with bigger sensors do make sense.

i think that dslr will not deserve any value in case mobile phone

I don't went this battle for big numbers will stop. This is more like phony marketing techniques used by OEMs to boost sales. I mean if big numbers were that good. Why isn't every flagship adopting it. A pixel 3 with one camera beats most of the phones with triple cameras. I guess we might even reach 1000mp. Device manufacturers have realized that most consumers are ignorant about SOC, so cameras is the next frontier coz the human mind loves big things. So the bigger the mp the higher the sales

Before you hype about 64mp samsung sensor, be wary that current implementation of 48 and 32mp samsung sensor is bad. Take a look for ex at a70, the 32mp camera quality output a watermark picture with low detail and dynamic range.

Big battery, other camera versatility, wireless charging, cooling system, compactness & pocketable. If its indeed coming, i think its still a long way to go...

I change phones every 2 years. At the moment, i'll stick with Huawei as got great experience regarding cameras & some of the latest tech available. I've use a lot of Sony flagship phone before, but non of Sony phones meets my expectation as of now (personal preference).

Regarding about the Sony RX, digital camera always be my main use, phones as secondary. Besides, u cant get those 1" sensor goodies on a phone.

Are the MPs that important? Even if they make 100 MP can it be compared with digital cameras? They should make something that can be compared to real cameras otherwise the MP are just for show

Its a $100 price different though (Mark VI $930 in my place, VA $830).

The only downside of Sony camera are overheating on 4k recording, some people can only record videos for 2 minutes, before the overheating warning pops out. Thats a bummer, a lot of cut off has to be done if vlogging. But my main use is photography anyway, so i think i'll stick with my choice.
