Phones with 108MP and 10x optical zoom cameras may be coming next year

That was shared by the usually reliable @IceUniverse. Qualcomm and Credit Suisse have made similar predictions.

Higher pixel count does matter given adequate lighting. As long as it can do pixel-binning on night-time then there's no problem in low-light. Also more pixels means that colors will be better produced due to all the colors (RGB) of the Bayer filter can be hit or represented properly without opting to other color filters like X-Trans which is used by Fuji.

Bigger MP sensor does have higher surface Area as seen from current IMX 500 series of Sony (for example) so don't just assume that it's only the MP that becomes higher until you see the main specifications.

stupid marketing and underestime people likes fool. How can big megapixels determine image to be so good? and last point waste storages for images, do you need a image size about 10-20megabytes. The good image need good sensor not megapixels.

Siddharth09, 17 Jul 2019How about phones with night vision/infrared, I desperately ... moreIf Lumigon still exists, try and buy their latest phone. That has an infrared camera. :D

Sounds like 3x3 pixel binning for the 108MP sensor (which gives a final 12MP size).

gimme a photo camera, a canon g7x, sony rx100 or similar, flatter, with a 5-6" display and capable to make phone calls :))) it would cost probably like 7-800euros. I will buy it next nanosecond....

Megapixel don't matter. 12MP camera can be better than 108MP.

Gilipollas, 17 Jul 2019The megapixels size race is stupid. Bring me bigger sensors... moreExactly. It sad how people don't understand that it's physical size that matters (for capturing more light), not ever more pixels. And the phone companies worsen the confusion, by putting such an emphasis on more and more pixels.

thats insanely big no for a mobile device to have.
its amazing how far we have come in technology.
