Anonymous, 20 Jul 2019Night modes from all these phones make photos stupidly arti... moreMy S10 and P30 are telling me you're wrong about night mode being "stupidly artificial" and "ocean blue sky with tons of noise". If you expose for the bright section of the frame, then you'll get darker photos with good dynamic range. S10 generally expose the whole scene lower than P30 so even without using spot metering it just captures natural looking photos as you simply press the shutter button and hold still. You might be right about the blurring, but then every smartphone struggles to freeze moving objects in low light even in auto mode(except for P30 and P30 Pro which uses relatively fast shutter speed at night).

Guys please try to be balanced while commenting.
Yeah it's true that the capitalist business model of most of the brands focuses on pics or battery.
We all know that a premium camera undoubtedly does great pics, likely better than smartphone flagships.
However, saying that pics from flagships look awful once printed in bigger size on paper, is not true at all.
I used to print pics taken on IPhone 4 or Samsung S5 or S7 edge and all of them were pretty good. Not a lower quality than my camera that owned by this time.
It's true that we shall be careful not to believe every single marketing campaign of smartphones. But blaming people who buy those phones is very arrogant and irrelevant. Some people just wanna have an all-in-one device taking pics, videos, calling, making GPS, chatting, listening music...etc.
Otherwise guys please feel free to buy every single apparatus to do all those things!

Sony RX100 for example is still no valid competitor.
Nikon D3400 can be bough for 250 bucks if you know where to shop and does miracles for that price.

Which is still much cheaper than a high-end phone that you could replace every single year for some tiny camera improvements. That´s their business model and consumers should boycott it.
Before smartphone OEMs dont´t use bigger sensors with great optics there isn´t much hope for smartphone photography. At least Huawei takes things more serious than others. Best thing would be attachable lenses again which Sony had with their QX-series. But that would hurt the business model of all those smartphone OEMs. Totally capitalist waste of innovation and resources for profits.

Even midranges record better videos than huawei flagships.
I cant accept a phone with a high end 2018 cpu that records at such low bitrate. P30 Pro does 4K@30 at 26Mbps. Even phones with SD801 can do better.
I know lower bitrate generates less heat, also easier to apply better EIS. But 26 is too low. Most do between 42-48 and brands like Sony, Htc and OP do over 50.
