The mi a3 is a really good phone. The display is actually really nice! Don't listen to people cry about the hd+. They will find a reason to hate anything. The truth is the phone is fast, very smooth, camera is nice, stock Android with monthly patches, ir blaster, wifi calling, and its in display fingerprint reader is the best I've used so far. The only time it don't read my fingerprint is when I got dirt or drywall dust on my hand. Headphone jack puts out great audio, the bt audio is great. There's nothing to hate here. Battery life lasts the whole day. I recommend this phone 100% if you want a pixel on a budget.

I had the south American version for 275 and my mi a3 was 161!! The a50 was super buggy, pocket touch nightmare, the camera was meh, but the screen was good. The mi a3 has a great screen, I can't tell it's a 720 at all and I go through a lot of phones. The mi a3 is smooth, fast, NICE AMOLED DISPLAY, and the camera is great. For 161, get this phone! You won't regret it

I guess not that is why you j... moreThe fact you keep using the past tense is pretty telling of how "good" a craptastic 720p *pentile* AMOLED really is. Sure, the panel itself is very far from bad, the thing is the resolution is clearly insufficient for such a large surface. This becomes very evident when looking at finer detail in photos or trying to read smaller fonts in desktop web pages.

And yeah, I'm more than familiar with that panel.

I guess not that is why you just like other people who are bashing this phone know nothing about it. I owned one and have been using it more then you ever did and all i can say is that the screen isn't bad as some of the oppo or vivo phone out there

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2019the Mi A3 is a weird one since its essentially a more expen... moreSince it's amoled, the real measurable resolution of the screen is 190 ppi. (286/3*2)
And in terms of actual resolution, that 720p amoled outputs the same sharpness as a 480p LCD. (720/3*2)

Amoleds only start looking sharp (similar sharpness as 300ppi LCD) when they have 450ppi and higher.

So yeah, this actually has a 480p screen in reality.

I don't know why people bashing this phone so much, 720p screen isn't that bad. Oppo, vivo and many other manufacturer has made a phone with 720p and some of them cost more then this but no one complaint. Even the Redmi 7 that have 720p doesn't get this much bashing from people. I just bought this phone a couple of days ago and i can tell you that the screen is not as bad as anyone expected. Coming from a device that i have been using since 2014, yeah it is a huge improvement in many aspects. Battery life is awesome, camera is great (gcam make it even better) + android one make this a perfect choice for me.

I think people are learning from experience, both how Xiaomi's launch prices always plummet after a few weeks, and just how poor the support was for the Mi A2 (which, incidentally, managed to be even poorer than the bad days of the Mi A1).

Xiaomi was able to correct the Mi A1 support issues and convince buyers that such thing wouldn't happen again in the A2. But it did happen, actually it even got worse for those with the affected 4G/64GB units. Only a fool would buy the Mi A3 (at full price) knowing about the support issues of the past generations.

This is really a breach of trust. Good things were expected from Mi A-series, it's let down the consumer so much. That is bad, a very bad decision made by Xiaomi / Mi A3 !!!!

the Mi A3 is a weird one since its essentially a more expensive samsung a20 running stock from what 99% of users will see/care about.
I myself can't fault it because that extra price is getting you a feature everyone else has abandoned, the infrared.
is the ability to replace your infrared remotes worth the extra? probably not but by producing it they are giving the market the choice which is always good.

it also amuses me that commenters think that a 720p screen is bad or that they can without using a magnifying glass actually focus on and pick out the pixel sub-groupings on a 250+ ppi AM/OLED.

                              Waiting for price drop.

This should be a3 lite, and regular a3 with SD 675 or 710 would be great. But why not some a3 pro with SD 730g for 300 euros?. Just two models in one year is nothing, many people doesn't want miui but want low priced Xiaomi devices.
