SD 855+ processor, 8GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage, Micro SD slot, 3.5mm jack, 5000 mah battery. I will buy this phone in 2019, IF I get Nokia 9 free with it. Original Nokia 9 is joke now. Nobody wants to buy that phone.

An overwhelming majority of people taking photos (and video) on a smartphone want EVERYTHING to look great on an “auto” mod, which means point and shoot w/o having to fiddle with any settings, other than perhaps “Night mode” or switch between primary and front camera.
If the idea of this device is to be for some niche segment of the 1% of 1% of the market, fine, but if they want this to sell like a real flagship and be on par with Galaxy, P30’s and Mates and iPhones, then it’s gonna be another flop – tiny sensor, no OIS, crap jpeg output on auto… and it will still be slow as hell, if they stick to similar photo (post) processing algorithms, as 855 has a few drop of juice over 845, but not orders of magnitude.

Bitterly disappointed with Nokia lately. Really poor designs that just don't have the spirit of Nokia in them and hardware that isn't particularly great.
The reborn HMD Nokia looked promising at first but they've dropped away really quickly.

I am a big fan of Nokia, ever since the mid-nineties. I bought the Nokia 9 on release day, but was extremely underwhelmed. I tried to give it a chance, but it fell short of my expectations, despite the huge potential. In the end, I sent it back. IF the Nokia 9.1 can rectify the issues I faced, I may be tempted to give it another go. However, I will wait for reviews at the end of the year/early 2020.

They outsource the manufacturing to Foxconn because local manufacturing (in Finland) is too expensive so they hire one of the most reputable Taiwanese factories out there a la Foxconn.

So. They are going to release it latter without latest 865 or 855+, or custom multipoint light processing silicon, and I presume still no post focus Video, or other lens effects. So, what's changed from last year?

They have 1.1% market share in Europe. It's 0.95% here in the UK. At least they're in the Top 10, not worldwide though, because not many of their phones are available in North America.

Foxconn is designing the phone and HMD Global is the marketing departing. Putting a bunch of white European as face of your company moves products faster. Light's tech isn't very well suited for smartphone as the computational power required is still too great unless Foxconn can design a custom chip to handle the computational.
BTW, 2018's design and 2019's SoC in 2020?

And HMD Global has many people from original Nokia mobile division, but the bigger problem is they are trying to get more market share now, so they are trying to compete in the most popular price range. Flagships are not their priority, so they are just experimenting with them and you can clearly see that's the case with Nokia 9.

The disappointed Nokia 9 PV users are even more disappointed of these news and I doubt that anyone will make the mistake again. HMD doesn't bother fixing the existing phone's issues, but puts out the next version.
