KRM_DOTCOM, 17 Feb 2012oh...ok... good to be clarified. i think the reason why ... morei too think they are testing ics and probably jb but ultimatly customers are suffering coz of this....here i think w8 scores over android coz they are not releasing devices for costumers to get the feedback and improve later instead they are testing it with developers to provide nice user experience....google should follow this policy

AnonD-27499, 17 Feb 2012This is the worst thing that Google could do! I'm android ... moreMarket analysts think otherwise. Google will be dominant in the next couple of years at least. Will it be another Nokia? Lets review that in the next decade.

AnonD-13132, 17 Feb 2012after ICS all the new releases will be for smartphones and ... moreoh...ok... good to be clarified.

i think the reason why they brought up JB this early are because that

        * they are planning to unify the OS for tablets and smartphones, they might be using ICS as a test for the small screens and JB for the large screens thus they are testing both devices and gather informations that would help them create the droid we really need to look out for... the end-product of JB and ICS.. The droid that would be used universally on all android running devices be it a tablet or just a smartphone.

[just my own opinion and thought]

There are some marvellous innovations in new releases. I think operation systems are still evolving to fulfill all the needs of all the people. With new processors more is possible now. larger screen make all a lot of things not possible earlier practical now. However google should make it possible to upgrade at least last two releases in mobile devices.

this is so fake its not even funny.

they brought phone and tablet OS together and now they want to dive it again? ICS has about the some uptake rate as gingerbread so no need to rush such a huge update as 5.0

If ANYTHING it'll probaly be something lik2 the jump from 2.0 to 2.1, it will be 4.0 to 4.1 and it will still be called ICS.

FUD is all i gotta say.

this is for an upgrade option for Honeycomb !!

This is the worst thing that Google could do!
                    I'm android fan. I'm with android since v1.5 (2009).
Until now I'm proud owner of my 4th android device.
But this make no sense. Comeon google. First you have to fix all the bugs in ICS, then wait for the manufactures to release some devices running ICS, after that wait them to update atleast 2011 released devices to ICS. Next wait for developers on xda-developers and cyanogen, and Modaco to cook some ICS rom's for the "unsupported older devices". And after a year or so release new version of Android.
Cook something eXtreme that no other OS have it, and then release it. In meantime you could release updates, and bug fixes for the ICS. This way you simple make no sense. You will loose all your developers, and fans. You will create such a mess, that nobody will be sure if his new bough Phone/Tablet will get the new features with the new android release. And this will lead them to WP7 or IOS.
And who on Earth want the Chrome OS on there phones? What can i do on it that I can not do on Android? Ok. You want to combine Chrome OS with Tablets. Then simply release a Chrome OS for tablets. And give them the choice tho choose between Android and Chrome OS update. Or left them the choice of dualboot. But don't even think about new version release of android.
Because that could be the worst think you could do!
You will loose everything! Trust me!

Yes I am going to troll. I believe Android will loose 15%
Market share by the end of the year. It's becoming a house of cards. They made a complete mess of the realease of ICS .

it's not just the color. every version has it's own unique codes behind the graphics and additional stuff that you can only use on a specific device.

Google is rushing JB because they are feeling insecure after seeing how good WP 7.5 is and they are scared of Apollo and what Nokia can do when WP gets multi-core support.

If this rush job happens then we will see fragmentation at its finest, again.

Looks like, smart phone os should be like Windows for pc. Drivers for peripheral provided by manufacturer. Users just install it by themselves.

The manufacturers then have a lot of work to do to get all Google's random changes working with such a diverse set of hardware.
