Ther r still 80% of devices waiting to get ICS updates and all thanks to the stupid manufacturers and their late announcements on updates.

AnonD-42209, 16 Feb 2012OMG! This next awesome version of Android gonna bring all s... moreNot to burst your bubble or something,

But the current phones has not got a ICS Update.

As I see it, Releasing this will only cause to increase in fragmentation of Android OS...

And believe only phones with hardware that can support Chrome OS will be able to get this Jelly Bean... Just even more Restrictions for the new OS...

Icream Sanwich united both tablets and smatphones into a single OS. I think that Jellybeans 5.0 will add netbooks with ChromeOS to this recipie.

My bet is that Android 6.0 will add desktop and normal laptops computers to the game into a x86 enviroment.

Who knows, maybe someday we will be able to dual boot Android and the newly anounced OS X Mountain Lion ;)

IMO it won't be a tablet only release because Android4 ICS unified tablet and phone.
I think it will be released with the Google Nexus tablet. But it won't be tablet only.

"releasing Android 5.0 Jelly Bean during the second quarter" And sure to be a copy of the Metro style.

this OS is not for smartphones but for tablets people!!! but there might be a possibility for that since smartphones are so sophisticated nowadays.

The original news piece doesn't actually say that it comes with Chrome OS but functionality from the Chrome OS, dual boot with Win8.

I find the claims of Android 4.0 failing a bit conspicuous. It's barely out the door with manufacturers trying to get devices/updates out. Well yes, it's been out a few months and nothing's really out kind of shows that Google should work closer with manufacturers.

@jack, version revision doesnt only mean graphic changes, or UI changes. They include security fixes, some other bugs.

In the news stated "Android 5.0 Jelly Bean will bring further optimizations for larger screen devices - tablets and netbook computers." means that its only for tablets like galaxy tab or Asus Transformer Prime.. its just another upgrade for Honeycomb to Jelly Bean..

Ruwin, 16 Feb 2012If YOU don't notice the improvements on Chrome this doesn't... moredude, bug-fixing doesn't mean a new version of OS and then tell the owner of phones with previous versions that the new ver. of OS needs higher specifications and your phone won't get the update and when you really look what the new updates are you just see a new skin and nothing more, if ice-cream sandwich is a bug-fixing update then the old galaxy s and other android phones still stuck with ver. 2 of android should get it as well... about google chrome, then it shouldnt be called google chrome 18th but called for example google chrome 4.56 ,,,opera updates its browser constantly but they dont call it a new version of opera by each bug that they fix

Just another theme upgrade then,,gingerbread green,ICS blue jelly bean red...These releases are stock android and the manufacturers skins on top are whats causing the delays..So if you using sense UI then whats the difference..Some say its bug fixes BUT thats does not mean a new release of android does it.I think we will change the colour scheme and release a NEW version of android?..

For goodness sake you can do delta updates and bug fixes and upgrade things without having to release a whole new> >O/S.
