Reasons of decline is very obvious but Sony management team are blinded with their (Brand arrogant),
Sony was the last brand to add FP scanner,
The last to add OIS
The last to add extra camera sensors
The last to add fast charger
The last to add wireless charger
The last to add Led display
The last to release their flagship
Always late so what do you except? care too much about the design than anything else as it's a clothes or shoes brand?
People always praises the strongest horse on race NOT the beauty one!

Sony had unique designs like the Xperia SP, Xperia J, they had squared corners (I prefer that, not too common in 2019 sadly). Sony also had the same designs throughout the years (Omnibalance), so did iPhones and Samsungs, but their designs were too bland. They popularised glass backs, definitely not a fan.

The Huawei camera take "Street" styles photo those fans will keep praise it because they are fans, coming up the next new phone will have "waterfall" curve screen they will keep praising too.
The notch/Waterdrop/Punch hole are ugly those fans will hide it and keep praising it.
