You can put 22000 MP but without OIS don't count with me. It will be a surprise if they put OIS in a Redmi phone...

Quadbayer (Sony branding) or Tetracell (Samsung branding) means 4 become 1. You cant make 9 become 1.
You combine two pixels of short exposure with two with long exposure to boost DR.
9 cant be used for this math.

DrakeX, 07 Aug 2019Wow! Now that is a TRULY cutting-edge, class-leading camera... moreSony uses stacked sensor with memory RAM inside like their Full Frame A9.
This tech allows 4x faster readout. It is not just for true 960fps.
It allows the burst with AF/AE, Predective Capture with full resolution, 4K HDR Hybrid Log Gamma ( Xperia does not use HDR10) ..
This 64MP and 108MP are just bigger versions of those 48MP. Nothing else.
The 64MP would give 16MP details if lenses could resolve 100% of the resolution, something that phones cant do because lens quality is nowhere close to real cam lenses.
With current tech, pixel size is no longer important. Device with 1.1 micron can perform as well as a 1.55 micron if settings are correct. Bigger pixels would make difference at very high iso ( at least 6400).
Except Huawei, Sony, HTC and OnePlus , all other are useless above iso600.

Wow! Now that is a TRULY cutting-edge, class-leading camera sensor (if the rumours are true). Huge camera sensors are only found in IMX 600 / 650 which is used in Huawei flagships so it's great that Xiaomi will be a serious camera contender. Also, 1.6 microns is another advantage. This is all just based on specs and what really matters is the software algorithm.
It's weird that Sony and Samsung aren't even using their best sensors for their flagships.

108MP should be octa bayer cause 27MP will kill storage and most cloud services downscale to 12-16MP anyways

Always better than its Isocell counterpart.
