Good move! This way I will have a guarantee that the phone is ok and it was only serviced by Apple.
I do not trust repairs made by unofficial shops or random people with a screwdriver. Just like I would not trust a random "mechanic" to fix my car. I always take it to an authorised garage.

to be fair, I think the headlines are a bit exaggerated. I mean, you could still change your battery—doesn't interfere with your right to repair, but it won't know your battery health because of lack said controller to know your battery health status.
Apple didn't block you from changing your battery yourself or from third party services, just that you won't have a battery health services.

What makes you think Android OEM... moreSo far i did part replacements on many sony, samsung, huawei and iphone models and there is nothing more complicated and hard to repair than apple products, full of proprietary screws and small usless brackets, there are to many LCDs failing after reconnecting them to the mainboard. And with software restrictions after the replacement?thanks but no thanks. This is the biggest reason why i hate and how thay are treating the consumers.

Yeap I definitely never will switch to apple . Just months before I renoveted my old Xperia z phone changed battery/screen/body/speaker by my own hands.
And give it to my grandma :) she now can perfectly use it .

Rigged benchmark scores, false advertising and pretty sure many got away with terrible design/engineering flaws on their own phones too.

There is huge amount of IPhone Users in Pakistan, but there is no offical Store, or Service center of Apple. Every IPhone user have no option, and they go for third party replacement of Batteries & panels if any problem encountered with their phones.

low quality pirated parts into the iPhones which causes a lot of problems particularly iPhones in Asia but sure twist and cherry pick away cause who likes to hear the whole truth? :)

i hate apple myself, but i think this is okay. i mean as they are the manufacturer of the device, so they are the ones responsible for any fault in the replacement battery found in the future. to save itself and the customer the hassle, it is better indeed they have this restriction. i know i said i hate apple but i love their ipads and we have 2 at home for my sons, and 1 for my sketching hobby. i know the article only talks about iphones, but if they do this with ipads i couldn't agree more and would happily oblige. simply because even with me and my wife's android smartphones, we only have them serviced and repaired on the oem's official service centers using only official parts. i don't think this practice is founded on greed, rather it is for giving the end user the benefit of coverage in terms of guarantee to the performance of the device.

Even after all the technical documentations compiled by Louis Rossman on how, across multiple Apple devices, the company got away with design flaws with no penalties and only apologized when the issue is deemed too old by the Apple-blinded media?
