CompactPhones5ever, 09 Aug 2019To be quite honest, it can be absolutely flawless OS that's... moreSo many people don't like Windows tile design especially on their phone. It's not interesting. If Windows Phone using icon which can be customized just like Android maybe it have more chance to survive. It will help a littlevof its cons (less app available).

      This is my guess for how much percentage points HarmonyOS will take from Android starting from 2020.

      2020 = 5%
      2021 = 9%
      2022 = 15%
      2023 = 19%
      20204 = 21%

        Kriegsherr, 09 Aug 2019the big issue is phone manufacturers actually make money on... moreIt's not as if Huawei is big in European and US market.....

        And fifty-fifty percent chance is massive for new emerging OS. Just release devices with harmonyOS subsidied (20-30%) vs their same Android counterpart and it"ll penetrate for sure

                    Anonymous, 09 Aug 2019Funny! Europe - 500milions, USA - 300milions. All USA allie... moreChek the surveys. You will find out that Africa prefer the Tecno or Samsung over Huawei. Also în India. Huawei exist and will exist only because of China as a national product. China will become the Nr. 1 superpower.
                    Also check the right population. Europe îs 750 milions. All of America continent have 1 billion. Oceania also has over 40 milions. We are talking now about 1.8 bilion of population în development countries, where Huawei sucks in mid range or budget segment (overpriced cheap looking phones which have lag în just 2 years of usage and the baterry loses 30% of its capacity).

                      Anonymous, 09 Aug 2019Funny! Europe - 500milions, USA - 300milions. All USA allie... morethe big issue is phone manufacturers actually make money on their flagships not on the budgets. and no matter how small the European and US market is, people around there buy expensive phones more compared to for say India or china. and not every indian or chinese person would buy huawei to keep them competitive so statistically huawei in fact has fifty-fifty chance with their new OS. so if huawei can't catch this two markets, their growth would surely be slowed down.

                        AverageUser, 09 Aug 2019Sooo... this is basically Huawei's version of Tizen?Nope Tizen is Linux based alike Android.

                              Smartphon, 09 Aug 2019i will definitely try it. Me too...i will miss gmail, which is the only Google's service that I really need and use. Google profile I use just to have access to play store(and to registration in some apps that comes with it).
                              If this comes with different app store (which it will), no more google for me. DuckDuckGo on Opera is my preferred combination for browsing, Here maps with downloaded maps that I use offline, I even don't have Facebook apps on my phone (and it was hard to block them), I use all of those, but in browser.
                              So, I will be very glad that I can try something new.

                                Huawei is playing bluff. But they seem to be doing it well.

                                  They should launch some low-end phones on the new platform so that it starts gaining users & developer support.

                                    Anonymous, 09 Aug 2019Good point. Huawei needs the big and rich European market t... moreyou are 20 years behind reality. china middle class has more money than usa and will have more than usa and eu combined in ten years

                                      i will definitely try it.

                                        You can't compare this OS with Windows Mobile OS in terms of failure. Huawei has huge global market and already dominating mobility and network space....they have the hardware and software experience in catering to their huge market presence. Microsoft never really intended to dominate mobility space since they already conceded their home market to Apple in a very big way unlike Huawei. Microsoft in theory shouldn't have failed if they focused on Mobiles. They had too many things on their plate that didn't help them.....

                                        Huawei can never take things for granted instead they need to focus on creating ecosystem.... people won't just pick these on their own to make it successful....they can't definitely serve two different set of audiences and that only could potentially spoil their attempt
