Anonymous, 10 Aug 2019Because Samsung Display can sell whatever they want. Sams... morethe real reason they didn't use screen with higher refresh rate on their mobiles is they didn't want that. maybe save that for future or because of the difference between SuperAMOLED & DynamicAMOLED technology, who knows! Samsung is King of OLED & TV market but not interested in OLED TV market & their TVs use LCD panels.

Why not 3x3? Because half of pixels are long exposure, half are shot exposure. Odd numbers are impossible.

Samsung Mobile cant do anything about it.
Other brands get from Samsung screens with 90/120Hz, while Samsung Mobile uses 60.

Why quad bayer why not octa bayer? 27MP will kill storage and can anyone explain what these sensors actually are is it better to use 27MP camera of same size or 108MP?

Anonymous, 10 Aug 2019Quadbayer (Sony) or Tetracell (Samsung) means 4.
That i... moreYou don't need to have quad Bayer to use pixel binning older phones like Nokias had 5mp supersampled results.
Also did Samsung or Xiaomi confirm it's quad Bayer? Other than mp count there's no official statement about the filter type AFAIK.

Quadbayer (Sony) or Tetracell (Samsung) means 4.
That is why it has these names.
Stop saying it could do 9 into 1. No it cannot.

why, 10 Aug 2019why cheap phone using big megapixel sensor & expensive... more1/2.55" is cheaper than 1/2".
Unless it has DRAM inside.
Cheaper sensor = more profits

gogu, 10 Aug 2019why isnt samsung keeping this tech for themselves and other... moreI also agree with your viewpoint. Samsung must start development on their own sensors before they start giving them out to other manufacturers. And ensure that they improve the camera quality in each generation radically. The next generation of S And Note Series, and all other mid range Samsung smartphones should first concentrate on the camera sensor, ISPs and Computational Photography, to ensure that Samsung makes the absolutely best smartphone cameras.
Also, Samsung should make atleast 6 month gap between its latest generation sensor on it's own Smartphones and that sold to other smartphone companies.

mehtasameer2087, 10 Aug 2019What is the surety that all the pixels would light up fully... moreUsing pixel binning to simulate larger pixels combining 4 smaller ones will be never be as efficient as having large pixels because there's a portion of a pixel that cannot capture light and the total area of that portion on the sensor increases as the pixel count goes up(obviously). So yes, you're right about that. However the reason why those 48MP cameras on many budget Chinese smartphones still haven't beaten 12MP ones on flagships is that the image processing is generally less refined and matured on cheap phones. The sensor itself is better light sensitivity wise. Give this 108MP sensor to Google, Apple or Huawei who can design quality lens and you'll see them doing a lot better than they are doing right now.
