12nm is 10% more than 7nm power consumption, Note8Pro uses 4500 mAh battery + super 1 liter fast charge, temperature control problem has copper tube + multi-layer graphite, feeling that in taking care of G90T this U, Redmi invested a lot. [eat melon]

Until gsmarena has tested the antutu score don't believe the hype. Mediatek doesn't provide source code for their chipsets so you can't install custom roms, which is important because this device will only receive a single android version update. And android updates are necessary if you want to keep this device for a while

have used 2 mediatek phones before, in 2014 & 2016
at that time mediatek was inferior to qualcomm, but the phones worked fine for everday usage. one of it even got a android version upgrade. so if the price of this redmi note 8 is cheap....i might go for mediatek again.

            Forget about all other midrange smartphones except Redmi Note 8 Pro.. ... coming very soon ..Aug 29 (2019)...Antutu score 283333 , 64 mp camera , 25x zoom, 4500 mah battery , MIUI 10 , Glass back……under Rs 15k !!

              That's not Antutu.

There is no way SD710 scores as much as Sd730.

Especially since G90 had its Antutu score published long time ago and it was 220k.

One handed use would be a pain. You should try phones that's closer to 70mm. They fit so nice and are so comfortable and confident to carry. Seriously. You won't regret trying a smaller phone its awesome. I used the Xperia ZR and its the best handling phone I've ever used. But its old.

Also it already has USB-C it doesn't need BT 5 but that'll be very nice to have especially with wireless earphones nowadays. Let's just hope they keep the jack. I agree on rather having the teardrop notch than pop up.

It has potential but hard to develop because of how different it is. Mediatek should be easier compared to cell but since this is Xiaomi there's probably a high chance of modding the software.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2019I avoid Mediatek because they never update their software.Mediatek doesn't do updates. Redmi does. It just seems like most mediatek phones get updated slower. Plus this is a new chipset. It will be good.

                      what are the other options?

I've used devices with MTK, rockchip, allwinner, and spreadtrum SoCs. They did the job, making their respective devices dirt cheap (like a decent android 8" tab for $80) but they still lacked performance in certain areas. good for the price, though.

MTK is probably the only one offering high performance SoCs among those. But they still offer less features than Qualcomm. Yes, they make what most people want, but since xiaomi won't make a Snapdragon version this time, we can't really tell if there's a difference in favor of MTK.

comparing it with other phones is out of the question as other internals differ as well.

SHAZAMM, 24 Aug 2019there is a gaming phone with a loop chamber thoughAll vapor in vapor chamber cooling is looping one way or another. Heat>liquid become vapor>vapor went up to cooler part of chamber and release heat>become liquid back and fall to hot chamber to absorb more heat and become vapor again. It's looping, but it transfer heat via vapor not liquid form. That's why it's called “VAPOR" chamber not liquid cooling
