Mediatek processor ..take with a pinch of salt. On paper its specs may be great but end product is usually not that good. A Snapdragon with same AnTuTu or Geekbench will give a much better experience. Xiaomi should have gone for SD730.

Mamun, 29 Aug 2019Hahaha...It's JUST Samsung 16MP Camera Sensor With ISOCELL ... more64MP downsampled to 16MP is sharper and more detailed than pure 16MP. Give Samsung some props for the Tetracell (Quad Bayer Pixel Binning) tech there. Monopoly isn't good.

One of the question is that will this chip be compatible & stable to all the applications available. Stability is one of the major factor for the popularity & the success of this chip.
Above all, will this SOC will get all the updates for the future UPGRADES from Google.

As the Google 10 is on the edge & will be rolled to major vendor by the end of this year so will this chip also receive all the updates from Google.
The source code of this chip would be a major factor in determining the future updates that will be given by Xiaomi to their customers.
Else everything else seems to be flawless.
Please comment if I have the right perception regarding the updates on Mediatek Chips from Google.

This is a step back for redmi series ... they did the same thing with mi A series too. At least they could use SD730 and SD730G for the pro !

Wonder when it's coming to Europe, and what the pricing will be. This price seems amazing to me, it's even lower than RN7 currently.

                                      Well,

We've seen it before, Xiaomi releasing a phone with two different processors. It was the Redmi Note 4 with SD 625 and one with MT6797 (Helio 20 X). Guess what happened to the MTK version? NEVER updated whatsoever... Stuck with Android 6. Why? Because of MediaTek's closed source and maybe because Xiaomi didn't care. Now, what happened to the SD version? Android 9.0 IS available for this old device, even though it's a custom ROM from xda, but you see where I'm going?

I hope they support Note 8 Pro, but I wouldn't bet on it even if my life depended on it. Now, for the Note 8 that's a different scenario...

The regular Note8 looks oddly beautiful for a Xiaomi device.
