Vegetaholic, 05 Sep 2019There is no way your laptop 20x time faster than ipad pro w... moreBenchmarks may be higher, but can your iPad run 6 4k monitors? Does your iPad have 64gb of ram? 6tb of storage? Can it run over 50 applications at the same time? Does your iPad have 3gbps storage? Allow remote desktop from anywhere in the world via a smartphone? Benchmarks mean nothing if you can't even utilize 5% of that power. Show me a video of an iPad opening a 2gb pdf with complete ease while running Autocad and chrome and them maybe I'll believe in the benchmarks.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2019Yeah maybe Apple is hiding something from you, I still find... moreApple designed there own Soc aka A Soc and TSMC manufacturing A Soc get your fact right stop comment something if you don’t know.

Nick Tagataka, 05 Sep 2019So you can't read what other people are writing. Understood. You could've use the analogy of vehicles.
A smartphone is a midsized hatch, kind of like your Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Hyundai i30, Volkswagen Golf etc etc. Everybody needs a car. A tablet is something like a SUV, nobody really needs it, but it offers some conveniences the hatch doesn't. And lastly you have Windows PC's and these are diesel trucks. There's plenty of people that need it, some that don't. And a car wether it is a hatch or SUV won't suffice.

So while we're at it, generally software is more advanced on x86 systems. You can do more complicated calculations, more calculations each cycle, and generally faster cycles. But it comes at a cost of energy, heat, noise. That's why emulation is always going to be ahead on Windows instead of Android. However, when thinking "pound for pound" modern RISC-based systems like ARM Cortex A-series can run faster and use less energy.

          Rant:
You can attempt to do this by comparing the two, but the unfortunate part is that most Phone SoC's run anywhere from 2W-6W power envelope, generally at 4W-sustained. Whereas x86 chipsets don't punch that low. Unless you go for the legacy Pentium/Celeron CPU which has being miniaturised by Intel in the Atom range with a 14nm lithography. The best on offer is the Atom X7 (Z8750) which runs around 3W-8W range normally. Or their smallest modern part which would be the Core M (8510Y) which runs higher in 4W-11W range. The most advanced emulator you can run on both platforms is the Nintendo Wii, and one of the most demanding titles you can run is Metroid Prime 3, especially when enhanced x2 for 720p resolution. On the Atom SoC bumped up to about 6W you usually get around 35 / 60fps. On the Core M, when undervolted, you get a slightly better 40fps. And on the QSD 855, you get an almost locked 59fps. And a similar trend occurs when emulating lesser consoles like the GameCube, DreamCast, DS, PSP, PS1, N64, DosBox, after which each unit starts hitting 100% fullspeed. However, the Android systems do not currently have an optimised emulator for 3DS, PS2, WiiU, Switch, and PS3.... something the Windows counterparts can more or less brag about supporting. Also Android systems, unlike the Windows options, cannot run AAA-titles from games like Fallout New Vegas all the way to something more modern like Battlefield 1. However, the Windows systems can natively boot Android or even run Android in-emulation, so they can access the plethora of titles there as well.
          end rant...

              Citation needed.

"Why buy a 1200$ i3(A12x) when you can buy a 1500$ i9 with an gtx gpu?"
The same exact reason why you're paying $1000 for phones and even more for ultra compact laptops with mobile U series Intel Core processor - portability and ease of use.
Gaming laptops are cheap because the manufacturers cut corners in every aspect apart from CPU, GPU, amount of RAM and cooling system.
Now, some gaming laptops do have good build, display, audio quality and long lasting battery while also being fairly compact, but they are so expensive that they are literally at the same price range as the newest Macbook Pro 15, which is admittedly very overpriced for the specs you get. For me gaming laptops are absolutely useless because I don't play games.
And finally, A12X is far better than i3. No further argument needed.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2019Anyone actually in that business is using a dedicated gpu, ... moreBecause you cant take the i9 with rtx everywhere .. even if you can .. it can never be as convenient as an ipad pro with apple pencil. Some people don’t prefer convenience over power and they choose the i9.. fair for them that the option exists. Now some people don’t need that much power but want portability and convenience. Thats why the ipad exists for them. More and more people fall into the latter category as the PC sales are declining year on year. My question to you is, why should a powerful machine cost more than a convenient machine? I mean to make ipad pro, you ned to cram so much technology into a device that is the size of a gaming mouse pad, thinner than your monitor.. and battery that last 4 times as much at full power. Why shouldnt this cost as much.

Your i9 would be mobile version not i9 9900k levels, so maybe between 50 - 100% faster. My ioad air 3 is on par with top laptop i7 with 4 cores and it is a12 chipset. I compared on same geekbench 5 it with my i7 3740qm and a12 destroyed it in single core and lost by around 5% to multi core. A12x is in another level than a12, so you can imagine how powerful a12x is. In gpu comparison your 2080 will be heavely throttled and it is not same as 2080 desktop too. So mayne up to 3-4 times faster, considering a12x gpu is unmached by any smartphone or tablet and is in different level from a rest. A12x is technological masterpiece considering it runs probably below 10w comparingcto your laptop i9 which is 45-55w and its without your gpu of course, which is another 40 watt.
