That flip phone is too expensive for me. Want a decent phone for calling and texting that doesn`t look like a toy or phone that is especially made for old people. Hope that other brands will fill this gap.

Considering feature phones, the prices of both these models are too high. Even Nokia's latest entry level smart phone 2.2 is cheaper than this. As these are launch prices, hopefully, prices will go down in next 3-4 months.Tempted to buy 2720 Flip as back up phone.
Had never used Kai OS earlier. Do all these pre-installed social media and other apps get updated in Kai OS same like Android OS and ios?

stoopie, 05 Sep 2019why are these tough stupid phones so expensive?Probably its not cheap to passes those military drop certification. Don't forget that the material should be top notch also. Anything else would be more about R&D and suchs.

So what are the limitations of KaiOS? Can one access the Playstore and install any Android app?

2720 Flip seems very interesting. And, a 2.8 inch is definitely very big for a clamshell phone. Don't think they ever went higher than 2.4 inch (like on Nokia N93). I'd assume with a big screen for a clamshell it would be a very long device overall.

When the samples hit the shelves, eventually they will get adjusted to local prices.

That means in some Western Countries the price will go up/stay high. In many Second-World Countries its likely to drop. And Third-World Countries will get it through a middle-man, and they will likely price it further lower to meet local budgets.

It's what happens to nearly all low-end Android, Go, KaiOS phones based on my limited knowledge.

I think if they're slightly more careful with the price, this would be good as a backup phone or one for kids/elderly. Though for second-world and third-world countries, these make great options as long as their local prices are decent for the citizens.
