Nokia 9 PureView's unique penta-camera gets low score from DxOMark

06 September 2019
It barely beats the Nokia 8 Sirocco in the overall score and actually got a lower video score. The PureView failed to top the 3-year old iPhone 7.

DxOMark is a looser this proves that how bad their experts are. They don't have expertise to take a photo on RAW Mode then how they are experts.
I am still happy to see #Nokia9PureView hastag on twitter which real users have posted instead of this bias and paid reviews.
DxOMark proves again they are paid they can't produce the real capabilities of the PureView phone. Nokia 9 with zeiss optics which produce true to the life colors with lot details will never gonna be match with its competitors atleast in day light. They have even prove it in the lumia days too that they are paid.
Conclusion: DxOMark likes paint color LOL

Farhan aka Wolverine, 06 Sep 2019So by adding more cameras they ended up going backwards. This is what I've been telling people all this time, but they've ignored me like the village lunatic. Now the results are out, and people change their tune.

Photography got better because of Qualcomm/ARM, and Stacked DRAM, able to process light information much faster which allows some longer algorithms to be used. Hence, Pixel 2's AI-Photography taking a step-up from the Pixel 1's HDR+ implementation.

Soon we will hit the plateau again, and there won't be any improvements in photography. To do so, we will need to increase the sensor size. Maybe not as monstrous as the Nokia 808, but something big like the Lumia 1020.... that will do wonders with current technology in quad-pixel binning, sharper lenses, and better computational photography. I mean that's what we did with the SoC's when we weren't making fast enough progress, we bumped up the die-size from the 20-50mm2 range up to the 70-120mm2 range... cramming more cache, more gpus, more cpu cores, and more sister processors like the "npu".

What disappoints me the most is the ability to take panorama shots. It is impossible to take pictures without blur.

After capturing multiple RAW images in different exposures the LR app then tries to merge them to create a single RAW file with extremely wide dynamic range.

YUKI93, 07 Sep 2019Thank you for showing the proof that the Huawei's post-imag... moreP20 Pro didn't have a dedicated pixel shift algorithms for focal length of between 27mm and 81mm at that time, so it should look bad when you're taking a photo in 54mm focal length, at which iPhone X was taking a photo of that portrait picture. P20 Pro's photo was also taken in Portrait Mode which by default applies tons of beautification effects that was absent from Pixel 2's processing, so the fairer comparison could've been done if DxOMark had used Aperture Mode instead, or simply shot in 81mm focal length where the phone could've utilised its dedicated telephoto lens.

None of them matter now since current Huawei flagships use much more sophisticated algorithms for intermediate focal lengths between the main and the telephoto lens, though.
