Marco M, 10 Sep 2019Did someone force you to get a S10e? Work phone perhaps? ... moreI honestly bought the S10e for 4 reasons:
    1. Compact size
    2. IP68
    3. Flat screen
    4. Good camera and CPU

Now, I don't plan to upgrade for years to come.

If not, then there are plenty of phones to choose from, in all sizes and price ranges.

If you feel some sort of peer pressure by the people around you to buy a version of the latest flagship then blame them, not the smartphone industry :-)

AverageUser, 10 Sep 2019Yes, fry those batteries, charge as fast as possible to deg... moreThe faster a battery charges, the shorter time it spends in a "heated state". Charging tests has also proved that higher charging speeds does not necessarily mean higher charging temperature, as there are some slow charging devices that gets quite hot during charging and some very fast charging devices that doesn't run particularly hot at all..

The Mi 9T Pro has a 4000 mAh battery, and I think it's safe to expect the Mi 9 Pro 5G will get the same or more.

Bigger battery means fewer charging cycles per hours used, meaning longer battery life.

Compare this to say a tiny battery (2658 mAh) in example, the tiny battery can charge as slow as it wants, it will still degrade faster due to twice as many charging cycles per same use.

Now, we don't have gsmarenas battery test for the Mi 9T Pro nor the The Mi 9 Pro 5G (obviously), but the standard Mi 9 with it's 3300 mAh battery manages 17 hours of video playback, whereas a certain device with 2658 mAh doesn't even reach 11.5 hours. So with only 24% percent more capacity the Mi 9 manages nearly 48% longer performance and that's also on a larger display.

I guess some manufacturers are just much better at optimization than others :-)

If we scale up the Mi 9's 3300 mAh battery to 4000 mAh (Mi 9T Pro), then it should manage about 20,5 hours of video playback, meaning it can degrade to less than 56% if it's original capacity and still beat the iphone xs with it's 2658 mAh battery fresh out of the box, however - if used exactly the same the Mi 9T Pro will have about half amount of charge cycles per year compared to the iphone xs, and as such have much better battery health for every year it's used in addition to being significantly better out of the box. After 2-3 years the iphone xs will likely have only 25 % the screen on time as the Mi 9T Pro.

So if I were you I would focus more on battery capacity, battery charging efficiency and battery efficiency during use.

Yes, fry those batteries, charge as fast as possible to degrade them as soon as possible.
Then, you can pay for battery replacement, or buy a new phone much sooner.

NiGhTDeViL , 09 Sep 2019Oh this is it...everyday new tech.coming...i changed 38 mob... moreI totally agree...
My S10e is simply amazing, but I had a similar thought the other day, I wish to have a dumb phone sometimes. Energizer with KaiOS can run whatsapp and is a pretty cheap brick.
But typing on it would be a harder task... and I can't use it for emails and document editing like S10e... so I realize the real reason why lots of people can't have a dumb phone in 2019 even if they might want one.
But reality is that even the S10e is overkill for what I need, and here is the entire industry trying to convince me that I need something even better...

That awkward moment when a $500 Xiaomi phone can charge much faster wirelessly, than a wired charger on your $1,000 iPhone.

I'm still not a fan of wireless charging, but at +30W it would be more useful. Even Fast Charging (wired) isn't quite necessary, if you can hot-swap with Removable Battery.

People clinging to their Samsung Note 4-Exynos, LG V20, and , can attest to what I've said.

From above :The company claims that should be enough to take a flat 4,000mAh battery to 50% in just 25 minutes. A full charge on the same size is achieved in 69 minute. In comparison the previous best by Xiaomi - Mi 9, which went to 20W - only charged 30% of its 3,300mAh battery in 30 minutes in our test.

I'm currectly a mi9 user, i use 27W charger to change my Mi9 and had 5%~100% in just about 52min, i charged a lot time and can confirm that 30Min ~50% or if my battery left below 25%, i can assure that 1Min 3% are confirmed, 20min charge up to 60%.

Well done,Xiaomi..if it will cost $20 like 20W charger for Mi9 it'll be great.Mi mix 3 came with free 20W wireless charger in some markets..

Iop, 09 Sep 2019One More Thing....lolz....they'll never stop copying apple.... moreApple hasn't invented this yet. . . They are still on 7.5W wireless charging speeds. First they will have to invent 15W, then 30W. So it will take at least a few years time before Apple will invents this and it will be revolutionary :p

Maybe next year they will invent the notch&bezelless phone as well? As always, a few years after the others.
