There are two possibilities.
-Huawei has something bigger project in IA business. By selling 5G technology they get money for up coming research in IA. Cellphone business just the beginning of Huawei. It's time for them to move.
-Another reason is only "test the water". Which big company will come out and make an offered. Why they preferred western country? Interesting because only one western country witch is have so many giant companies. At the end Huawei may be just cancel selling 5G business.

Wow, really didn't expect Huawei to pull a move like that!

The proverbial ball is in USA's court I suppose.

Regardless, I think its nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Delaying, appeasements and confusion tactics by huawei (if its even true); because you don't spend billions of dollars in R&D in a damn lucrative market without players, and then sell it off. And no, Intel doesn't count. It was already lagging way behind while competition had put their modems on shelf-ready phones. Huawei isn't in Intel's position. If it indeed 'has' 50 carriers' 5G contract all over the world, it doesn't make sense for 'em to even consider the possibility of selling it.

Mark my words, it won't happen.

The only way it'll happen is when they couldn't deliver on the promises of 5G itself - like intel did with Apple in 4G arena. If huawei couldn't deliver mmWave and sub 6 GHz speed/range benefits on par with competition; 'only' then these kinds of musings make sense.

you sure the word is not "license", because you cover the news late, and not correct. there is absolutly no way huawei will sell their 5g buisness with more than 50 contracts worldwide!!!

                  The keyword, "considers".

There are people out there buy it online and have it ship from China to the buyers location. And then they just install the Google service pack ( as long huawei didn't block that to begin with).

YouTube itself already got many many channel which the creator are importing phone and reviewing them.

Well that atleast about their network equipment, phone division doing much better of course

Wow, Trump single handedly desteoying most prolific Chinese company. Without Google Play, no one will buy Mate 30 series too outside of China. They are completely screwed.

The only way I can find logic to a decision like this is if Huawei knows more than we do and they expect things to get much worse for their business in the next few years, that or the shareholders simply want to live a relaxed live and don't want to give a fight.

This shouldn't happen. Huawei is one of the few companies showing that technology innovation and development can come from China as well, they are like a jewel that brings pride to their country, like Samsung to Korea or Sony to Japan. You think any American would sit idly if Apple or Microsoft were threatened by a foreign country? They would riot in the streets and blame it all on Trump. If these people have any pride as Chinese they should defend Huawei.

Lewis, 12 Sep 2019Still baffled and almost laughing at how short-sighted some... moreI'm not sure, but from what i understand is that Google,Fb, etc are companies started and are built from the ground up in the USA and Huawei is built and based in China. I think there is this missing link where people from other countries (countries proposing a ban on Huawei devices) understand the chinese language far less than they do the english language and in return the legal documents and other subtleties are the things that forces these outcomes. I wouldn't go easy on Huawei either way. If you need further proof that the chinese use different standards just look at how they map out the country using satellites.
If russians speak russian and germans speak german then how do they understand one another - hence the broken telephone(man in the middle).
Regarding Trump i think he's either going to pull a Putin or something like an Obama. Either way he's going to have the last laugh concerning far left activists.
