Policy is policy, but Galaxy A8 not getting the update, while some lower end phone from almost the same period of the release year get it, is like spitting the users in the face.

My samsung galaxy note 3 gets unofficial android 10 (XDA community and developers).
6 years old device get a such update and run it very smooth without a glitch with its pretty old hardware, and devices such as note 8 don't get official update!!!
I have no reason to change my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 !

It's not Samsung it's the user contributing to the garbage and waste problem. Nobody is forcing you to throw your phone away just because it's not getting updates, what does the phone suddenly become obsolete all the sudden because it's not updated? No it still works just fine. Stop complaining.

This is disgusting that the S8 wont get the update. We have just had massive protests around the world about saving the planet and here samsung wont update a 2 year old phone because of profits. Almost been forced to throw away and buy again. This should be illegal and stopped by governments and slow down the churnover of mobile phones as even the very newest just do the same things as ones that are already out.
This is really bad and needs to stop, updates should go on for at least 5 years, certainly longer than 2 years.
With the exception of phones that now support 5g we are just been sold the same thing just with a different number and by not getting updates your almost been forced into buying again.

In terms of features maybe Google gives you more but what would I do with half baked features? For most of the Android phones auto display brightness or screen rotation doesn't work well. It's like friends. Don't need many but need a few who are true. Iphones give you features that work. It just works.

All phone manufacture should be made to compulsory give the latest android OS irrespective of how old their handsets are. The only criteria should be if their phone hardware supports it.
