No surprise, slow things down if your battery has been consumed.
Still worth replacing the battery because you get 5-6 years of timely support.

acemang, 22 Sep 2019i've an htc u11, and before had htc 10, and you should know... moreSorry most htc devices used standard qualcomm dac. Just better amp and speakers than others.
It never had the best dac or audio output.

And again. Many people still use the jack and the are so many situations where it comes in handy. Having it had benefits for people that use. And you can still use bluetooth. Not having it brings zero benefit to people. Only negatives to some. There has been no reason or benefit for its removal except for shaving pennies off cost and pushing bluetooth sales.

And if you say nobody can care about audio quality with a phone then you can't care about display quality, call quality, speaker quality, soc quality, software and features..
All things are better on standalone devices such as telephones, tvs, cameras, speaker systems, computers, etc..
    Grow up

Anonymous, 21 Sep 2019when you don't know the meaning of quality for smartphone, ... morei've an htc u11, and before had htc 10, and you should know that it have one of the best DAC on smartphones (that's the reason i bought them) htc 10 have "better" sound. I've also an external Hi-fi DAC for my computer at work. Since I remember i always had dedicated soundcards for my computer not using those crap motherboard chip like 99% users do. Same ones that cry about headphone jacks on mobile and are the ones that are walking with hose 3€ crap earpads that come with the phone.
a phone..is still a phone...and for running, going to the gym....going to work (with all noise around and distractions, please don't talk about noise cancel if you are really a purist audiophile) ANY are good enough this days for it's propose. if your really like music and you are critical listen the music, you need monitor audios with proper gear to listen. i use my denon AV at home with no distractions for that. If i want just to enjoy music (movies and party), i've my B&W set up. on walking and gym I use my Beo Play E8 (substitute my former 4 drive wired earbuds), the sound of the E8 is worst ofc than my previous wired but the no sound coming from the cable while walking...that EVERY wired earphone have is 100x better than anything you will say about bluetooth..compression..bla bla bla...wowow i like so much music...and i listen all day from my phone...lol please get a life if you think your a audiophile or near it. I'm not and i don't care but i feed about people that are clearly not crying about it.

...what do you think about Removable Battery ?

Is this also an ancient feature like the Headphone Jack, and should it be forever extinct?
Or are sealed batteries somehow better?
Do you think sealing batteries should be compensated with waterproofing?
          Is that even a fair trade-off ?
Perhaps companies should try better with Quality Control and Research Development ?
(To achieve waterproofing on phones with Removable Batteries. The Sonim XP8 has this, the LG G5 secretly had this, and the Samsung S5 had a weak form of water resistance).

It always boil down to "it's new, it's the future" without regard of its reliability and practicality. I get BT being wireless is a huge plus but the charging, lactency and signal disruption is enough for me to give up on them until they're improved so much it's like comparing floppy disks to USB drives.
They also conveniently forgot that the jack is universal too. Can't use it on a phone? You can still use it on your media player, desktop PC, laptop, car aux etc etc and not limited to one.

Heck, BT is already on OLDER phones so there's no arguement for removing jacks when they had coexisted for a good 10 years. I'm very surprised how often people forgot 3.5mm + BT on the same device was around long before smartphones were a thing.

But when someone says that wired audio is "ancient" and that wireless is "better", I can't help but expose the reasons that lead me to believe this is untrue. And then the counterarguments come and they're usually disappointing, false or invalid (can be acheived while offering the jack). I tried to end this but the other started name calling because he ran out of arguments.

And now to speak on this, er, "feature" generously offered by Apple. I am most certain that iPhone users are eager to have their devices go much slower without their consent. With untold benefits such as an increased temptation to spend money on newer, faster (especially with this feature enabled) devices. Apple, the company that keeps giving.

Just goes to show that the A11/A12 chips are too good by desin and they have to delibrately slow it down so A13 phones look and sell better. Apple's self-cannibalizing lineup is very apparent.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2019Also, its completely false that wired saves battery, thats ... moreIf now you doubt I have the WH-1000XM3, then what can I say? No matter what I'll say you'll just say "lies" or whatever. I know I have one. Believe me or not. Likewise I can doubt your ownership of the WH-1000XM3 or not. But I don't care because it doesn't matter.

BT audio doesn't have this problem because the output is lower lol. With the jack, you can send 1000+ kbps audio. With BT and LDAC, you are stuck at 900 or less. And your phone likely doesn't support LDAC so you have to endure even lower bitrate with AptX. Obviously you have no output problem because it settles for low output.

The HTC One M9 is old. A lot has changed in 3+ years.

BT using less power IS a huuuuge lie. BT audio doesn't use BLE... Please educate yourself on the matter. Just having BT enabled is known to reduce battery life. And imagine streaming audio continously... I know that my battery life has taken a significant hit when I tried LDAC on my headphones.

Also dongles socks. Like big time. I don't want to have to carry a small and easy to lose dongle wherever I go. And it's inconvenient to depend on one and to make sure all your hosts support audio via the dongle. My PC doesn't. My Switch doesn't. My Note9 doesn't. So this is just making even more fragmentation. Unless fragmentation is now considered an advantage...

Bluetooth uses far less energy, not so noticeable compared to in-ear headsets but the 1000xm3 and similar will drain hard on the phone battery.
I just plugged my xm3 into the jack of the htc one M9, bass is good but at the 2-3 highest volume settings theres severe distortion, the jack dont have enough juice, and we know not many phones can match the output power of these htc’s, amplifier wise its awesome but still not enough. With bluetooth no problem ofcours, the xm3 has a good amp with plenty of current, much better.
Jack is for home stereo systems, for phones jack is for connecting to an external amp or for in-ear headsets. The days of wireless disadvantages is long gone.

First the notion to say retest a phone because it has a software update really first run Android Oreo, now retest with Android pie

Second not an enhancement, the mantra why IOS was better than Android is the multiple updates you could install over Androids two

Every year new chip better chip faster by X% only to be solved by throttling

On the battery thing people use their phone differently each day, and their is a drop in performance

Batteries will deteriorate, those users with expensive wireless headphones will soon realise they have an expensive single use headphone.

Jackless phones are not the solution

Finally this is typical look carefully at the specs iphone 5 which has a 4.0 inch display to the iPhone 6 (two later) 4.7 inch display https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone1=4910&idPhone2=6378&idPhone3=7242

If you were on a two-year contract you were sold the same phone minor tweaks the main thing was Apple Pay

Apple control how you use their ( not you lease owners)

I got 1000xm3 so i know youre kidding us, xm3 got awesome wireless quality and all its little sudio flaws are present also when using it cabled, plus the discomfort if the wire slapping around.
AND lots of phones dont have enough output power to drive xm3 sufficiently, it can take a big hit in audio quality, plus it will drain the phone battery fast, every bass tone will drain a little. Much better to use it wirelessly to save the phone battery and get max current to drive it as it was made to be driven. Theres simply no logic to your arguments.
