is this for real? What exactly makes this phone so expensive? You can understand why the Fold and the Mate X are so expensive, because developing the technology of a screen that can be bent and still can resist every day usage requires a lot of R&D, but this phone is a regular bent screen like the ones already exist that will have a hard protection on top to keep it from breaking. It definitely costs a plus, but 3 times the price of a regular flagship? Come on...

They could have got rid if that line at the back and made a notch or a small bezel at top

None of these designs are practical. Even the curved displays are useless. I get all that. But you can only do so much with a slab design. Xiaomi basically did what Meizu did but nearly wrapped it around. I'm aware of Meizu doing this rear display stuff last year.
There really isn't any practical from the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X either. I want smaller phones to use one-handed. Not bigger unfolded ones. I never found any use for tablets. An added luxury. Giant multimedia players. I owned an iPad 2 and rarely used it. Same with an ASUS tablet converted to a laptop.

This is just a concept that will become mainstream like the first Mi Mix was.
It gets me excited because I think we're still years away with foldables from maturing. And I personally don't use tablets, so why bother using one that I can't use with one-hand? Like if I do DoorDash, do I hold the Samsung Galaxy Fold unfolded? I have no interest in unfolded BIGGER devices. I want to use my smartphones with one hand.
What Xiaomi just did was revolutionize the industry again with this unique design.

This phone has an utterly useless and impractical design of the history of phones. Except for just looking cool and showing off, this does nothing else of nothing more than any other flagship. The thing is, you won't do things just because you can do it, that's the difference between AAA companies like Apple or Samsung or Sony and cheap companies like Xiaomi or oppo or Vivo. The consumer market is so stupid that it is easily manipulated. Even the promo videos of this phone are so stupid and pointless. Dual display phones are nothing new and Xiaomi just added both sides to that. While these phones add very little to the actual productivity of a smartphone, they can never really compete with the conventional smartphone designs, at least not at present condition. Foldable phones have a future because foldable phones had a history and it adds a lot to what a smartphone can do. On the other hand, these all display phones are just style gadgets to show off, nobody cares what is happening at the back of their display or at the sides. All we are waiting for is under-display camera technology. Once we have that at hand, these stupid concepts won't even matter.

It cost nearly the same as this Mi Mix Alpha concept, but did that stopped the Chinese from buying one? Not at all.
P.S A friend of mine was lucky enough to try out that Samsung during his family holiday trip to China. It was an other-worldly device.

Hang on, the body looks eerily familiar to Huawei Mate X, especially that triple camera placement. So this is basically a solidly unfolded Huawei Mate X.
As for the spec and the material, it's just mind-boggling. Definitely want to see the full res image of the camera in both 27MP and 108MP.

I hate the concept of foldable phones (regardless of brands) but they're actually more useful than this. Only edge this has is the newer 108mp camera. Even dual display phones (again regardless of brand) are more useful than this. At least rear screen of dual display phone is centered and works like the front screen. This thing's rear screen? It looks wrong, feels wrong, and definitely not practical to use. Waterfall screen of vivo nex 3 is also not useful. This wrap around display takes it to another worse level. All for the sake of marketing "an over 100% screen to body ratio". With that price, I'll buy any of the foldable phones over this (if I had the money and willing to spend, but then again, I'm not willing nor stupid).
