Dealler, 25 Sep 2019Huawei cannot produce shiat, Kirin is made by TSMC.There are only 3 companies in the world capable of producing sub-14nm chips right now: Samsung, Intel, and TSMC. Every other company is either less advanced (UMC, GloFo, SMIC...etc.) or a fabless design company. (Apple, Huawei, AMD...etc.)

Dealler, 25 Sep 2019Huawei cannot produce shiat, Kirin is made by TSMC.If you want to use that comparison, then Qualcomm (Samsung/TSMC) doesn't produce shit too, so does AMD (TSMC), Apple (TSMC) etc. You do know that only Samsung and Intel has their own fab, while the rest design the chip and rely on them and TSMC for their foundry.

After the sanctions on ZTE it hasn't been the same and slowed down in both smartphone business and telecom business. Huawei is a bigger player then ZTE and won't completely submit to US pressure as of right now.

Hemedans, 25 Sep 201990% of 5G royalties is owned by Nokia, Ericson and Qualcomm... moreNowhere in that article stated 5G. Besides you probably misquoted the article... it says
"No financial details have been provided yet. Nokia did tell its investors that it expects to start booking revenue off of this agreement, including a one-off catch-up payment, by the end of this year. An analyst speculates that Huawei's payments may be around €100 million per year. Interestingly, Huawei is one of Nokia's biggest competitors in the telecom network equipment business - which is where more than 90% of Nokia's revenue comes from.
It doesnt say that nokia holds 90% of the patents, it merely means that 90% of Nokia's revenue come from their telecom network equipment business.

Currently Huawei paying Nokia around €100m per year,

Also Huawei is paying around $150m per three month to Qualcomm for 5G patents.
Huawei is just selling 5G infrastructure for cheap price but still don't own core network technologies, he needs to licence them from companies Like Nokia, Qualcomm and Ericson.
