Guys, I own a Nokia N8 with Gorilla glass... And I can say that it CAN GET SCRATCHED.. Although, that's possible but quite rare.

My N8 has 2 very minor scratches, which are hardly visible, but I have no memory how I caught them...

Corning made the glass for the first iPhone. Its in the Steve Jobs biography. I didn't know it was a secret

To all those mentioning that Corning glass on the iphone can be scratched and smashed, well here's some news, so can Gorilla glass, and quite easily.

The key is in the word "Glass". If it was resistant to smashing and scratching, it would be called something else.

Nowadays the name Apple is almost synonymous with lawsuit chaser. People across the globe have somewhat developed a mentality that if it is of Apple related design, then at its tails end, lawsuit follows.

[deleted post]It's certainly more robust than "normal" glass, but not scratch-proof. Want proof of THAT? My iPhone 4....

[deleted post]Corning gets all the credit for the glasses. either re-enforced glass or gorilla glass.

Apple is the customer not the inventor/innovator.

yeah it's Corning glass....but not the Corning Gorilla glass.

Corning doesn't only make gorilla glass.
Apple use the ordinary breakable corning brand glass.

The idea that Apple will call it iGlass and sue anyone that uses Corning glass is absurd. Apple started using glass and aluminum in their Macs a few years back and I don't recall them suing anyone then when others started doing the same.

So who here is effected by this? Has the fact that apple say corning make some of the the glass for the phone offended you? Has apple even mentioned buying the company? No? Well then why doesnt everyone calm down and act like adults. The last thing we need is a bucket load of rumors. If your unhappy with the iphone, then dont look at apple related news! in short, grow the hell up!

A lot of people here are under the mistaken impression that Gorrilla glass is scratch-proof. It is not. It is very scratch resistant, but can scratch. That being said, both my iPhone 4 and 4S have not a single scratch and I use both without a case.

WOW ! That's why almost PEOPLE believe your s2pid things you OWE. Then what ? you'll buy Corning and make Gorilla Glass to iGlass ? WTH. I don't like how a company acts like this ! And then what ? SUE companies who have GORILLA GLASS on their phones ? The first phone who have a Gorilla Glass was Samsung's ultra TOUCH (S8300). Alright Apple, Stop this. You're trolling almost all people but you should STOP before it's too late. You make yourselves go down. And not everyone want's YOUR overpriced iProducts. The world is not rotating and revolving just because of you.

Corning better watch out, Apple may turn around and sue them for putting their glass on other devices. Ok ok, I'm just teasing.

^Uh, or they just don't want to lock themselves into using ONE company's product if that company can't meet the overwhelming demand for iPhones, therefore, they may be using actual Gorilla Glass or they may be using an equally durable product from another company when/if Corning can't keep up.
