They sell their own product AND sell their own tech to other companies that sell a lot. So no matter what, something is from Samsung in all best selling phones, and they profit

Then Apple makes more money with just the iphone 11. Not counting the other two.

Then those companies need to use old cheap parts like micro usb, gorilla 3 and remove nfc to keep prices low.

                Issues :

                Fragile
                Overpriced
MiUI (any android skin that reminds iOS are bad)
                Slow updates
                Lower quality screen

The company was not financially viable when making those decisions and got sold off to Lenovo who are producing comparatively garbage quality handsets with next to 0 software support and have pulled out of multiple countries.

Well i only wonder why nmber one company like Samsung leaves A grade technology for chinese makers like Xiaomi.
Thhere is no wonder in next year or two Huawei and Xiaomi will fight for the first place as the most selling phone brand.
All others will barely catch the breath.

Where as green makes up the remaining 50% causing that awful amoled greentint at anything other than minimum brightness. There's also typically large space between sub pixels, and pixels for that matter, making AMOLED quite awful for VR due to screen door effect.

There is only one reason for pentile, cost saving and the fact that they're still allowed to specify it with that very misleading resolution. My current 403 ppi pentile is visibly pixelated at normal use, compared to my previous 342 ppi RGB panel. No wonder really as my current panel only has a SPPI of 806 vs my old one which had a SPPI of 1023 and significantly denser matrix with less gap between (sub)pixels.

The outcome of this would be a more fierce competition in the OLED market and then lower prices. I doubt it will work though. Sammy dominates the market, makes billions in profits and invests billions too. It's not an admittedly cool but in practice useless wrap-around display that will change that.

Marco M, 25 Sep 2019Reducing number of blue sub pixels (like pentile does) most... morePentile uses diodes of different sizes which help counteract OLED aging, because the less efficient diodes like blue are larger and can run on a lower voltage to reach the same brightness as green, so the RGB diodes age at about the same speed, which is not possible for RGB stripe, in which the blue is sure to deteriorate the fastest resulting in yellowing, that's one of the issues.

Walter C. Dornez, 25 Sep 2019Pentile is fine though, if done right. You either go the Sa... morePentile can't be done right*
