There are some serious misunderstandings on your part.
The focusing element(s) focuses the lens, i.e. alters the plane of focus, by moving along the optical axis, there's currently no other possible way for a lens to focus.

Now you're making up things I haven't even said. What I was telling you was that this periscope camera will use a 5x telephoto lens which has a 130mm equivalent fixed focal length lens. In other words, it's a PRIME lens.
The real optical zoom module inside Zenfone Zoom uses 28mm - 84mm equivalent variable focal lengths lens, which can be called ZOOM lens.
I'm making an assumption that S11's telephoto lens will have a fixed focal length because Samsung now owns the company who also made a fixed focal length periscope telephoto lens for P30 Pro and Reno 10x Zoom. *Obviously* it will have an autofocus(I mean yeah, I'm the one who pointed it out first), but cannot change its zoom range. This is why S Yu was confused by your initial comment as well.

Nick Tagataka, 09 Oct 2019I'm sorry to say this but I don't see what you're trying to... moreIf by "FoV" you mean field of view, focal length is not all about the FoV. You are confused.

I'm not trying to prove anything, I'm trying to understand the statement you made - "it's safe to assume that S11 will have the same type of fixed focal length telephoto module as those two instead of the true optical zoom like the one found inside Zenfone Zoom"

Why assume that? Why is it "safe" to assume that? I see no evidence or reason. So far, since you don't even understand the difference between "fixed focus" and auto-focus, or the difference between focus length or field of view, I'm discarding the statement. Why would you say the camera in S11 should be assumed to be fixed focus when the video specifically says it is auto-focus? For all I know, you are just spreading disinformation.

In case if you're confused by the term "focal", here the focal length is all about the FoV and it's nothing to do with the focusing mechanism.

"If a focusing element does not move, then it has a fixed focal length"
With your logic almost all telephoto lens on a smartphone must have fixed focus since they have a fixed focal length.

"Auto Focus" means that the focal length is varied to match the distance between the object being photographed and the camera.

I'm making no assumption. A focusing element focuses whether it moves or not. If a focusing element does not move, then it has a fixed focal length. In most instances, the claims of 2X or 3X zoom you hear are for when there are at least two separate camera modules, each with its own non-movable lens of a fixed focal length and its own image sensor. The 2X or 3X "zoom" is claimed because the fixed focal length of one camera module is 2X or 3X the fixed focal length of the other camera module.
