Mate 30 Pro is capable of recording 960fps slow mo video at 1080p for 0.5 seconds(over 6 times longer than Xperia 1) and 1920fps video at 720p which neither of Samsung or Sony has done before, but people in tech communities are like "Ahh 7680fps ultra slow mo is such a gimmick it's software interpolated and way to slow for normal movement anyway" and quickly come to an conclusion that it's useless, when in reality the elephant in the room was those non-interpolated super slow mo recording.

I wouldn't blame those people though, in fact I was one of them who facepalmed when I heard that ridiculous fps number in Mate 30 Pro's live announcement. But then after reading through the hands on review by Anandtech I realised that Huawei has actually done some impressive job on the hardware side. So really, it's just marketing that they just need to hold back a little and be more humble on.

Out of Control, 07 Oct 2019That slo-mo on the Mate 30 Pro looks really pointless thoug... moreMate 30 Pro max true slo-mo are at 1920fps on 720p. They already achieve the 960fps at 1080p.

And while the Mate 30 7680fps are interpolated from 1920fps, it looks decent unlike their interpolated 960fps before. - https://youtu.be/DjHbRVo4WHQ

Love the Community, 07 Oct 2019C'mon now. 5x Periscope Telephoto lens should be a standard... moreNo need to use LG's Transparent OLED, Samsung already made a transparent display in 2016. You got sucked in by JerryRigEverything's video. Just do a search for Samsung transparent display and watch the videos. In truth, Samsung are miles ahead of everyone, but annoyingly they choose not to give us the tech they have. That is what I hate about them, they hold things back to extract maximum money from the 'consumer'. They are giving us the hole punch even though they can already give us a camera under the display.

It's mostly a software trick anyway, typical of Huawei. 960 fps is perfect, they just need to find a way to make it record longer and at 1080p as a minimum, 4k would be amazing.

I´m pretty confident they will do better than Huawei.

Let's hope these rumors turn out real. I for one would be happy to see Samsung finally get serious about their camera hardware. Whether you're their fan or not, competition is always good for the consumers.

And that periscope sensor needs to get popular. People who haven't used it don't realize how amazing it is.

Not interested in zooming, but this new sensor sounds really interesting. At least they try to push things forward with new camera hardware. Pixel and iPhone, the most expensive phones, use small and older sensors for years now.

But when Huawei does it on the P30 Pro its labelled a gimmick by sammy fanboys

                        hahahaha

Good to see samsung catching up tho, maybe they will include 7000fps slow mo next year eh? and then samsung fans will rejoice and enjoy some old tech, just like how samsung fans claim apple fans do lmao

Shadow Snypa786, 07 Oct 2019Should be amazing and hopefully they are using new sensors ... moreNow if Samsung can stop using their current horrible image processing as well, S11 will be an excellent camera phone for sure.

"Rumor has it that Samsung will opt for 5x optical zoom for the Galaxy S11 instead of a midway focal length - say, 3x zoom"
Why not both though? There's a reason why Huawei decided to ditch 5x folded optics and used the more conventional 3x telephoto lens on Mate 30 Pro instead - 5x zoom is quite impractical even if combined with smart software image interpolation and super resolution zoom. I bet next time they will bring it back it will be coupled with shorter distance zoom lens so that the quality loss will be minimum at all zoom ranges.
