AnonD-819322, 08 Oct 20195.0 minimum in 2019 is ok. 4.4, you're missing a few apps. ... more5.0 is grossly outdated from security point of view.
Most companies don't support 5.0 anymore. The apps that you see are outdated as well, and haven't been updated in ages.
The way it works, is as soon as a developer defines the new minimum SDK version and pushes that to the play store, your old device stops receiving updates, but can still install, reinstall and do everything it did with an old version of the app. Obviously that will work until a developer radically changes something, like deprecates a web service.

At my company (not going to mention which, since i'm not a spokeperson. Lets just say it is a large and well known, as well as widely used product), we have stopped supporting 6.0 about 6 months ago.

If Google releases a buggy update then that's another issue, it's not mandatory that every update version will be buggy. I should have the right to upgrade my device to the latest version. Doesn't matter its optimized, skinned or stock android.

This is useless. Google better require the OEMs to give updates (security patches and android version upgrades) to all their phones, especially those with flagship chips

              Not current neither old phones.

There is no way this is going to happen. This means we'll only have about two Android phones in 2020.

Rajeev, 08 Oct 2019Dear sir, lenovo mobile are not provide security updates.Hi bro my Samsung j7 nxt phone always gives me all updates. When I bought this phone it's first OS version is nougat 7.0 but now i am using pie 9 😎. I like Samsung phones

This is actually good news but I personally can't stand Android 10. My personal favorite is the often maligned Android 9. The last version with a dessert name. And the letter P is what my first real name starts with.

I can no longer use Call Blacklist Pro once I'm on Android 10. I tried different variants of that app and they still won't work. The spam calls still go through. I also can't use QuickPic to share files to Viber or upload to Google Photos.

My Pixel 3 and Essential that I still have on Pie (Sept 2018) could be the final Android smartphones I will buy for a very long time. I also have an LG G5 still on Nougat that still serves me well. I'm avoiding Android 10 for as long as I can.

I'm actually considering getting an iPhone again but only because I'm thinking getting an Apple Watch and also for iMessages because most of my relatives are on it. Once people are stuck on their ecosystem, they're "stuck" for life.

I can easily escape from Apple's ecosystem but it's those other folks I want to communicate with who happen to be stuck. I swore to never get another iOS device and I really don't want to except iMessages and Apple Watch are just so tempting.

If it's another iPhone for me, it could be a cheap iPhone SE off eBay. The Verizon version this time because it's unlocked. I do kinda miss my AT&T SE that I sold for $100 but it got really laggy after two years. Or maybe an 11 Pro. I just want something with a smaller size and matte back.

Right now, I have three good smartphones I'm happy with. Two of them on my favorite version of Android. Both fast and smooth. Adding a 4th one which happens to be an iPhone is just overkill.
