Essen, 09 Oct 2019Impressive. A compact phone. No bezels. Though that 1-week ... moreSamsung A40 is smaller and better even tough it isnt android one but cant be said as a compact too for this sharp. Especially when A40 is 5.9 inch screen in a smaller body then this with 5.5 inch screen and you say no bezels.

AnonD-558092, 09 Oct 2019What's that squiggle under the rear camera for?Maybe that's where you place your finger, and underneath is a infrared spectrometer?

Shadocx, 09 Oct 2019Bla bla, it's still LCD and FHD+ regardless of how efficien... moreIndium Gallium Zinc Oxide displays in general have lots of advantages over the silicon based one's & some even against OLEDS. This is amorphous 8 generation IGZO display. Electron mobility is much higher (30~50 times) then aSi, tad under LPTS and much higher than OLED leading to better refresh, it also helps with quality of picture. They need less intensive background lighting to achieve same brightness like aSi and achieve better contrast thanks to it. Biggest advantage is that there is no need for a refresh when displaying static images which saves around 80~90% of power in comparison to aSi one's when displaying static images. In comparison in typical browser use when you actually read something on bright white background the OLED will use 50% more power than classic (aSi) LCD, IGZO will use only halh of what topic LCD would. Meaning IGZO is there times more power efficient than OLED in most widely used task by everyone. The greatest advantage of IGZO & all LCD's over OLEDS is that they use typical RGB pixel matrix over Pen-tile one so FHD RGB = 1.5x FHD Pen-tile for a equivalent number of real pixels & sharpness. IGZO isn't something all that new & Sharp's display manufacturing whos in a bad position (it still is) but it produces the most advanced IGZO displays.

As someone who have used a few Sharp phones, i can tell you they're damn good. They should consider expanding to overseas market.

Just like Sony, Sharp make very high quality phones with excellent build quality and support. I wish they would make them available here in the west.

seriously 3Gb Ram.....No wonder Sharp has fallen so far behind, shame it was a decent company many years ago not on the brink of extinction or taken over.
WHY even bother Sharp??? In today's market and future proofing 6Gb is the minimum moving forward, even 4Gb is barely acceptable.... unless you are intending to market to lowest end of market in some third world country, and that is a seriously crowded market with but even those has 4Gb min for most!!!
This phone is already obsolete before its even released, my old phones in the drawer from 5-6 years ago has 3gb! Sharp have an opportunity to capture a new market with long lasting battery device but sadly wasted it by skimping on the min hardware requirements for I dare say most people.
I would have consider it if screen is min 6.4" and at least a 4-6Gb of RAM with 128GB/256Gb storage even i fit has a mid ranger Qualcomm chip.

The color and design reminds me of the iPhone 6 and 6s series, and I like that it's an Android One smartphone. I hope the price is just as impressive as the alleged week-long battery life.

A lot of phones will last a week now if you don't use them.

Lost brand and lost phone. One week battery life? Lol it will die in one day.

I expected nothing else from an LCD fanboy.

IpsDisplay, 09 Oct 2019Because like you and many other have no clue how IGZO panel... moreBla bla, it's still LCD and FHD+ regardless of how efficient it is, what they gonna do? reduce brightness to 200 nits? Make the display 30 Hz? the SoC is a Snapdragon 630 which is on 14 nm fab, underclock the SoC to 1 GHz? and the battery just 4k mAh, it's not 20k like a Energizer phone.
If you believe this can last 1 week on normal usage, that's really sad.

Specs sound good. Not great. But in a dual sim would be ideal.

My q7 dual sim gets hammered for work daily and the battery life is suprisingly good.

Ill def look into this handset as long as the price is right and avaliable down under.

Guess SD630 is becoming a trend now?
Nice to see a metal build smartphone after a long Overwhelming of glass ones.
Even if they done an extremely optimized battery management, stock android, and limit the usage of high graphics gaming or not at all, doubtful how the 4000mAh battery could hold more than 2- 2.5 day screen on time. Unless they talking about using the device only for basic operations like calling , social media feeds and internet on data, No WiFi or GPS usage, all this while keeping the brightness lowest
