Weekly poll: is the OnePlus 7T Pro a worthwhile upgrade?

13 October 2019
It brings few changes over the OnePlus 7 Pro and bumps up the base price. There's also the 7T to compete with.

My OP path is as follows: OP3T, OP5, OP7pro. I don't see any reason to change OP7ro for OP7TPro. I think I will wait another year, at least

No upgrade is worth it after 1 or 2 years. Only becomes worthwhile between 3-5+ years. Smartphone hardware and software matured enough already by 2016-2018 that you can use devices released those years for a minimum of 3+ years.

    2016
    Snapdragon 820/821, Nougat
    A10, iOS10

    2017
    Snapdragon 835, Oreo
    A11, iOS11

    2018
    Snapdragon 845, Pie
    A12, iOS12

It's not a surprise to me that an iPhone SE from 2016 with an A9 chip released in 2015 still holds up well today. Same with any Android with a Snapdragon 820 or 821 with Marshmallow or Nougat on it. These websites and the tech YouTubers are just there as free marketing/brainwashing for these tech companies.

I bet a OnePlus 3/3T released from 2016 still holds up well today for daily use except for camera. Don't be a sucker for higher numbers. Most phones can hold up pretty well after half a decade. I still see some people still using an iPhone 4 or 4s from 2010-2011. Now imagine flagships released from 2016-2019?

Just change the battery every few years and occasionally restore the device to new. Keep the UI as fluid as possible. No new OnePlus upgrade is "worth it" unless you're coming from a OnePlus One released in 2014.

For me no. There are better alternatives at that price and lower prices. OnePlus is no more an appealing option London the past. Their actual policy and prices even in old models make them not competitive against phones with newer hardware and/or features and more desirable prices.

Walter C. Dornez, 13 Oct 2019The earphones actually did sell wellAh dang... If there comes a time I have to quit the headphone jack, audiophile-centric companies like Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, etc. should have USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.1 compliant with all of Qualcomm's wireless audio tech like aptX HD and LL. I just want to have a hassle free experience when it comes to perfect auditory cues.

Well we can say its a best android device available to buy so yes especialy the MC Laren edition.
Pure android experience specs best of best. Smooth perfect phone for anyone.
Compared to that Samsung have some interesting devices full of Samsung UI bloatware.
Apple cost too much for nothing. No memory card, No jack, no fast charge and many prebulescent apple laggs bugs and flaws.
Google pixel is a nice adition to pure android experience but what is missing is the unique design. Pixel is always a copy paste from Apple in present the pixel 4 and new apple 11 are copy paste from Mate 20 pro.

On other hand Xiaomi is pretty interesting because for small cash half the price it delivers gruesome device but again lots of UI advertising inside is a huge no for many people. And the xiaomi quality even is great is not near the oneplus.
HTC failed to impress this year and Sony offers a highly overpriced devices.
Payng 500+ bucks for a below average midrange isnt anyone forte who is not clumsy enough to call it a fair deal. And the above average devices are not worth anyway because they still missing something making the Sony worth phone to buy.
On other hand Oppo, Reno, Vivo brings lots of innovations and are trully awesome devices but they are not for everyone and not available everywhere instead of oneplus which can be purchased within their site and delivered to any contry and will work.
So in this case this is the winner of the best android device for this year because of no fuss and bloatware inside and a lot of innovations.
The only better is Mate 30 pro but this one lacks google services. Thus i did not count it.

Love the Community, 13 Oct 2019Nope. Go with Oppo Reno Ace/Realme X2 Pro. There's nothing ... moreThe earphones actually did sell well

No need to buy One plus anymore. It's added to my not to buy brands like Sony, Micromax, Apple, Motorola, OnePlus.

Nope,After my bad experience with OnePlus regarding updates I will skip OnePlus phones entirely in future.

Curved screen and pop-up camera - no, this smartphone is worthless.

Nope. Go with Oppo Reno Ace/Realme X2 Pro. There's nothing Pro about it especially removing the headphone jack. I don't think their Bullets earphones sold well.

Gone are the flagship-killer days. It's not worth the money with every new phone release due to pricing mostly, IMHO.

The best part about OP is the software though it's not 100% bug free. Looks like xiaomi is more in tune with their audience. Maybe they get to polish the software experience and get it to stock level. That would be really awesome.

                        NO 5G !!

No, absolutely not a worthwhile upgrade over the 7 Pro, they treated the pro like shit. But is it a good phone? Yes. And I'm getting it to replace my 3 year old Redmi Note 3 Pro, just to get those latest specs that are going to keep the it stay relevant for a maximum ammount of time.

Bit higher on pricing 7TPro but considering the flagship offering across the aisle this suddenly seems great value for money....thanks to their competitors! Asus ROG 2 and Black Shark 2 will give run for money

Offcourse a worthwhile upgrade from one+2 or 1+1.

                                NO
