Anonymous , 15 Oct 2019Where is the proof that Boe steals the foldable display tec... moreHuawei has paid Korean Samsung employees to pass them display tech in the past. If I recall correct the Korean got done for espionage and sent to prison. Was a huge deal in Korea because Samsung's rise is centered around displays (and memory chips). Huawei denied the while thing of course.

Anonymous , 15 Oct 2019Where is the proof that Boe steals the foldable display tec... moreExcept for particularly corrupt countries like China and Russia, who regularly plant and fabricate evidence, prosecutors need evidence to prosecute.
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/30/tech/samsung-china-tech-theft/index.html
The only reason SK should decide not to go ahead with the trial would be fear of retaliation to Samsung by the Party, like what happened to Motorola when they pursued IP theft by Huawei:

S Yu, 15 Oct 2019Samsung's been showcasing foldable displays for years. OTOH... moreWhere is the proof that Boe steals the foldable display technology from Samsung? Plus Samsung failed and lied to their customers with the advertisement of the galaxy fold. No wonder the F stands for failure.

It's a smartphone, not a damned DynaTAC. If it can't handle being put in whatever pocket it fits in it doesn't deserve to be released.
It won't be much better off in a jacket pocket.

To be accurate, it's BOE, provider of the screen to Huawei, that stole from Samsung, by bribing one of Samsung's suppliers. It's the display technology, not the hinge, that was stolen.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2019Samsung wasn't the first company to develop a folding smart... morewhat was stolen was the bendable/foldable oled tech. it was not conceptualized by samsung because the first one to have thought of it and have done preliminary researches on it was a u.s. company in the early 2000s. samsung took up the research as early as 2009 and has since been the one leading to the right direction. lg got into the tech as well around 2011. it was common knowledge in the tech world that the technology was stolen from samsung by chinese entities and have been sold to the highest bidders. this has been how the chinese have been operating their trades for years- stealing and copying.

Baykko, 15 Oct 2019If you buy this phone to carry it in your jeans you deserve... moreif it is about a businesswoman, ok, the bag option is understandable, but I imagine myself, walking around with my case, the phone ringing, asking my partners to wait for me to stop to find a place to put my case on, open it to reach the phone. and meantime the call stops because to much delaying... :)))) if I want a 8-10 inch device to carry in my case I buy a bloody 7incher regular smartphone, a ms surface or other tipe of ultraportable notebook. ok, there is the option to carry it in the chest pocket in my coat. but in this case i'd prefer a surface duo that I can use as a mini laptop, with a screen and a keyboard of sorts.
all in all, for the time being, considering the inherent limitations on the reliability of the display foils, personally I see no much practical use for such a device, huawei or samsung, and I have no intention to buy one. I repeat, "personally", i'm in no position to talk for everybody

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2019Bro, look at this: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour... moreDo you realize that Huawei doesn't make the screen of the Mate X? Its BOE, another Chinese company. If someone stole it would be them but hey, do you even realize that there are like 5 companies capable of making foldable screens right now? Did they all steal? Did they all buy the tech after it got stolen? but none of that matters right? just f#k Huawei because f#k China right?

S Yu, 14 Oct 2019There's another issue with this one, think of the stress on... moreIf you buy this phone to carry it in your jeans you deserve it explodes on you. What the heck is with you people ? This is a 2 thousand dollar phone with a fragile screen. It is targeted at businessmen to carry it in their cases or jackets where it will be most safe. not for average Joe that will go to partyng or to games and then go drinking afterwards taking selfies all along.
If you want to spend 2.000 on this phone its fine, but you better be well aware that its fragile and you cannot handle it as you'd handle a regular phone.
