15 October 2019
The Soli tech that powers Motion Sense doesn't meet the guidelines for use in the country.

Sonder Pichel, 16 Oct 2019You should call a spade a spade. The Pixel 4/XL is a rip of... moreThe OnePlus 7T has a 90Hz screen and a 3800mAh battery and I don't hear anyone calling its battery capacity "subpar."

AnonD-558092, 15 Oct 2019Ok just make a Pixel 4i/4i XL for whoever in India actually... moreThat would cost them more money, it's not worth it since Indians don't buy Pixels anyway.

Don't they sell P4 in other countries where Soli isn't enabled such as Japan?

You should call a spade a spade. The Pixel 4/XL is a rip off by all means. They're following the path of Apple. Last year they screwed up with the design. This year they shaved off the chin and screwed up the features. Who in the right sense would go for a Google phone that removed the headphone jack, has no expandable storage and a sub-par 3700 mah battery for its 90 Hz display? All for a premium price. A Note 9 would be a much better choice in the flagship category.

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2019So it's following the Apple way by only giving face unlock.... moreWell they used to at least

So it's following the Apple way by only giving face unlock.
This is where the galaxy S & Note series wins.
They give you fingerprint unlock, iris unlock and the other methods like face unlock, password /pin, etc.

Users will decide what is best for them.

Airbus A340-500, 15 Oct 2019This isn't going to stop Indians from getting their hands o... moreBut usage of the Soli radar in unlicensed spectrum (60GHz) would be illegal. The article clearly states the Indian government does not allow public usage of this frequency. Anyway it's likely Google uses some kind of geo blocking so you wouldn't be able to use it anyway. If you import it and use it, be prepared for the Soli radar to not work, or just face legal consequences

In Europe nobody needs fingerprint sensors and
biometrics. It's only for the Jungles.

indlvarn, 15 Oct 2019Why 60 GHz isn't allowed in India? You made the right question.

Why is this technology restricted in some places? I doubt its in some how harmful to health since otherwise it wouldn't have been released in USA to begin with. Maybe its related to espionage?

Thank goodness. No more complaining about no SD slot or call recording. Every cloud has it sliver lining.

This isn't going to stop Indians from getting their hands on the Pixel 4 as most, including me have our visiting friends and relatives get our favourite electronics from the US.
PS: Pixel 3 is currently $459 on B&H and many of my mates are looking at that instead.

Ok just make a Pixel 4i/4i XL for whoever in India actually wanted one of these awful phones. Replace the Soli thingy with an UD fingerprint scanner or Iris scanner. Problem solved. You're welcome Oogle.
