As far as we know quality of these devices with underdisplay camera is really low so i dont see a point to delve further into this.

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Oct 20191) Slight bezel at the top was, is, and always will be supe... moreMost of the people using their phones with cases. And the case sse is giving you that small bazel if you need.

Why would you cover camera that is under the display and cannot see through if display is on over the camera?

They are making it more complicated and expensive to replace the screen.. Camera, Sensors, Finger Print Scanner, Speaker everything are now under display.. You have to change the whole module if screen breaks.. Old school Small Bezels was just fine..

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Oct 20191) Slight bezel at the top was, is, and always will be supe... moreSpeak for yourself. I'm taking a notch or a punch hole display over a huge ugly bezel every day of the week. I have zero issues with holding a bezel-less phone and a lot of people share that sentiment.

Whatever gets us to a bigger display in a smaller form factor is a win to me. I love big displays and am super glad OEMs are going the way they are right now. I'm in love with behemoths like Nex 3 or the Note 10+ and hopefully we'll finally see a major flagship break the 7" barrier. Mate 20 X was kinda there but it wasn't a full blown flagship like the Mate 20 Pro.

I've been a proponent of big displays since years ago when Androids were 3-3.5" devices and the 4.3" Galaxy S2 was considered huge so seeing manufacturers finally giving us these beastly huge phones is awesome.

However for the second one, as I'm an IT engineer, there always a way to disable the cam by hardware setting.

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Oct 20191) Slight bezel at the top was, is, and always will be supe... moreFinally someone with sense. I fully agree. Having slim bezels is on all sides is nice but the hype of the last two years is totally going berserk. For some it became impossible to hold it firmly and operate it at the same time. There is so little room to rest your fingers and thumb on it that accidentally pressing the screen is almost impossible.
Dont get me wrong, having a screen utilizing the available space efficiently is a plus but please leave enough space for holding the thing, having the front camera's and sensors including a decent speaker.
All this droplet, punch or pop-up solutions are either annoying either bound to fail (pop-up).
Ultrasonic speakers are far from ready to use in a commercial product.
Under the screen readers are also far being as efficient as the good old dedicated ones (preferably on the front).
Don't skip "old" designs just for the sake of being novel or hip or even trying to justify exuberant prices for your goods.
Focus on technology that matters such as computing power and power management/consumption.

Meizu 16s pro's design on front is the best solution. No need to under display camera.

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Oct 20191) Slight bezel at the top was, is, and always will be supe... moreSensible. Thin bezels are the best. No matter how futuristic whole screen phone looks, practicality would kick back and prevail.

seem like under-display camera is the news technology for Samsung

                                1) Slight bezel at the top was, is, and always will be superior solution to all these notches, waterdrops, punch-holes, pop-up cameras and under-display cameras. The reason is simple - you still need that bezel to be able to hold the phone comfortably on landscape mode.
                                2) Is anyone else worried about hidden cameras? I might be paranoid but I like to cover my selfie camera with a sticker. With under-display camera my only option would be literally covering part of my screen...

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2019Invisible cameras are dangerous yes, and pretty soon these smartphone cameras will be powerful enough to see through not only an oled screen but through clothes as well. just kidding. your smartphone has been spying on you for years, only that the info they gather is stored and transmitted between machines only (or at least that's what these tech companies tell us). this is so they can serve you personalized and targeted ads and recommendations. this also helps the machine learn more about you and your routines to better help you with your daily tasks. as long as the information is kept safe from prying eyes (as they guarantee), i don't mind them collecting information.
