So they can have invisible cameras in a way

    Hope 16:9, 18:9 and 21:9 becames norm.
Puncholes, waterdrop, notch all are ok. If no notch then best.
Theres lot of confusion and various outputs on internet today. Lets make things simpler.

thada2607, 17 Oct 2019There's a report that Huawei will introduce a phone with un... moreSamsung announced UDC and gave us a demo a year ago followed recently by Xiaomi and Huawei in 2019. If Huawei releases a phone with UDC today in France (as the reports claim) and the technology is ready to go then you have to give them credit. However, if the technology is not quite ready and they are just pushing this so they can take credit for introducing it on a working model first, then I can't give them credit because Samsung and Xiaomi could do that. Again, this is a working model. Not a concept just to draw attention to their brand and show off future tech.

GBoy , 17 Oct 2019I don't understand udc. you mean punch hole display??? sorry .i hope there will not be a dedicated place for it, it will be hidden under a transperant display covering it and functing as a normal screen, camera lens will be displayed wen pressing camera icon....it is just my imagination???

If that stuff becomes reality, then there's one other giant benefit apart from getting rid of the notch.

It can be put anywhere behind the screen, which means no need to look weirdly to the sides while taking selfies.

Granted there are software tricks that remedy this to some extent. But a native good solution is always better than workarounds.

Hopefully, Samsung also goes for 21:9 display.
Far more offensive than the notch or holes were the unnecessary weird aspect ratios. They either made the phone too long/tall, or meant the phone was too narrow as content was cropped out from the Standard Ratio.

I think their ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is the best technology, but that tidbit needs some work too. I'd also ask for them to go back to Flat Displays, but I know they're too stubborn for that.

                  Wow great.
I love samsung. Samsung always make something new, the King of innovation.

It will affect image quality, so why they are doing it? Because they need something new, whatever it is? I do not like a display which misses pixels because of a notch or a camera. The bevel is acceptable in my opinion. I like the design of the Samsung Galaxy S5, where the aspect ratio is a sensible 16:9. It is bevels up and down. Surely they could be smaller, if they make the smartphone wider to keep the accepted 16:9 aspect ratio. 4:3 I would prefer for ebook reading, but most videos are 16:9 and so it is a compromise. The S11 will have an aspect ratio of 20:9. For less Facebook scrolling probably. Not for me! The Samsung S5 has a flat display with sharp corners, a rectangle like the LCD of my PC. No pixels are lost in the corners or sides. Seeing all these "innovations", I will keep my mobile and hope that it will continue to function. The 3.5mm audio jack is very durable, moreso than the tiny USB-C connector, but Samsung has removed it from the Note 10 series.

Distortions? I don't remember Linus and Zack complaining about behind OLED distortions for camera sensors.

Magustava, 17 Oct 2019All in the name of getting rid of Notches and Bezels I don't get...is it really necessary to get rid of the bezels and the notch?
