Samsung Display ships more OLED panels for iPhones than expected

Unlike earlier this year when it had to cut production, which led to Apple reimbursing Samsung Display to the tune of $683M.

LEDs aren't just more efficient--they last longer and don't change hue over time like some fluorescent screens

And that last comment about Samsung high end TV's using LCD and not LED I just gave up.

    1) oled uses 2x the power compared to LCD when white image is displayed, which is the case of almost all websites.

    2) oled life is affect by brightness levels. More brightness kills oled faster. LCD is not affected.

    3) oled has more colour shift

    4) higher contrast between black parts and colourful parts like apps icons increases speed of burn-in.

    5) pure black does not exist, you can look at any black object and will never see pure black

    Don't you feel curious why Samsung TVs are LCD and not oled? Or why Sony considers LCD TVs high end and not oled models?

          AMOLED is so common for Samsung it's even in their cheaper midranger phones. Unlike other budget phone still LCD.

The promise of pure blacks, improved battery life and wide color gamut conquered the masses. Apple stayed on LCD for a while before switching, probably because of slumping sales and the fact that by then, even cheap Xiaomi phones had AMOLEDs.

                                    The only reason Amoled is so big now is because of one company and thats Samsung. While everyone was using LCD in their flagships Samsung was using Amoleds.

                                    They were thinner, more battery efficient, more flexible and did better blacks so they had alot more advantages that disadvantages than LCD.
