I used to root all my phones in the past, but now only my mipad4 is on custom ROM, the rest of my devices are on stock. Only reason I had custom on my mipad 4 was due to lack of global ROM, and the original CN ROM is buggy with play store. With most of stock ROM being so optimised, I see less and less reason to spend time rooting or installing custom.
I used to have a MTK device, it was crappy, but situation seems to have changed with the introduction of G90T which ha proven to be on par with SD730. Now I am happy that MTK is starting to pose a challenge to Qualcomm which desperately needed competition. If MTK is able to come out with 2 more generation of chips that is of G90T standard, I am not hesitate to change given the well pricing.

Mediatek need to be bold like this to try to gain some ground on Qualcomm. Hopefully this will get Qualcomm to respond with their own budget 5G capable SOC

Even, some appications like banking or insurances blocked customized phones (despite its not in root). Also, we can just switch to a new phone when the hardware became obsolete, since at least MTK tend to be cheaper. To my opinion, custom rooms are nice to have but not a must.

Let's move that standard-ism thinking out here (that only software devs should install custom ROMs).
Only because you don't think you need to do those things, doesn't mean others shouldn't as well. That's very selfish of you to think so.
