Why would consumers want to tap into things that only internal cellphone devs would do? I had a Nokia 8 and now RoG Phone 2 and I never tapped into this and worked fine as is. Why?

That price point is pretty high end for Mediatek

IpsDisplay, 02 Nov 2019Mediatek is ready! Watch as all the haters will be force... moreAnd there still isn't a single custom ROM for note 8 pro on that very website!

The fact that Xiaomi had to send phones to developers to 'kickstart development' is testimony to the sh*t mediatek actually is - atleast on the custom ROM front. There's no denying that. It's not just GSMA website, ROM / Kernel developers all over hate mediatek. Because it doesn't care or comply with GPL, they consistently release only half/broken/incomplete sources - even if the OEM allows bootloader unlocks.

If people love Snapdragon processors there's a reason.

If people hate Mediatek there's also a reason.

And before I get flamed by Mediatek fanboys, let me tell you all: my first android was powered by Mediatek 6589W. An absolute garbage of chip which had a shitty GPS reception nothing could fix. There wasn't a single Kernel/ROM for it. Only interface ports. The Xperia port I settled on, it wouldn't sync with Google. The very basic necessity! So don't rave about Mediatek being great and all. I decided to side with Qualcomm because I had Shi**y experience with Mediatek. Qualcomm at least they don't hinder development from their side.

And I'm not an intractable guy, (I'm a consumer after-all. I care about what's best for my money, and my requirements.) But until I see it in action, I'm not gonna become a believer overnight.

insert *sounds good, doesn't work* meme here.
ain't no body is going to trust mdtk with their history.

Faster than my Iphone 7 .

IpsDisplay, 02 Nov 2019Mediatek is ready! Watch as all the haters will be force... more MediaTek is one of the world's largest SoC manufacturers. This website, for whatever reason, attracts lots of anti MediaTek rhetoric, in it's comment sections. Personally, i own a Qualcomm 7nm SoC, in my S10e. I am not a fan of my snapdragon 855. It gets hot while playing video games, and the battery is definitely nothing special. I am considering getting another handset next year, not sure by which company yet.

Difference between snapdragon phone and mediatek phone is nearly $100.
