Anonymous, 21 Mar 2012And if the tray breaks? You can fix it with a rubber band. You can use the same one which holds usb sync and charging cable in place. So simple and elegant.

I still don't get how Apple is still able to get away with not having the iphone with a standard MicroUSB like everyone else's phone
plus where does Apple even come in all of this if it was Moto,RIM and Nokia would first had the SIMCard patents in the first place

Come on, another SIM standard???? Why the hell another size? phones are getting every time bigger, they must have been done this before, when phones were shrinking, not growing like now.
By the way, even XPERIA X10 Mini uses a normal SIM. And it could be slimmer, with the same SIM. LG's whirstwatch phone uses a normal SIM, so WHY A EVEN SMALLER THAN MICRO SIM????? Seriously, I think this is stupid. Even more when you need to port your old number to a new card every time they change the size. Stupid.

Why you think apple approach is "bitchy" but Nokia's one is not? Both have a patented design proposal, and both are trying to make it the next European standard...
Do I see prejudices here?

This is really pathetic, Apple just wants to prove that they are doing something different. But in reality they are just messing up with things.... No need of this Nano Sim. It is no use at all......

To those complaining a the tray 'wasting' space - they don't even outline the Nokia solution; what is the basis for your assumption that a tray will need more space than whatever ejector mechanism Nokia has come up with? You do realize it will involve more than just a nano-SIM magically bonding with the phone, right? ...fanboys looking for any excuse, real or imagined...

surely the drawer is a space saver ....
There are companies that have produced these standards for years in a manner that they can adopt by the industry. Apple is not one of this companies; they patent colors, words and squares. This unilateral approach is just not 2012. You can't expect everybody to put drawers in their new products. It is fine for them since they already have them and they release one phone every 12 years, but it will just add cost to the others .... Not fair, not cool, not practical, so Apple

[deleted post]Your comment is nonsensical and it seems you are taking some sort of personal umbrage when someone expresses the logical and obvious fact that Apple aren't playing fair and are just trying to push the industry around to suit themselves with no regard for their customer. Their products are second rate anyway, made by sweatshops by the lowest bidder, and all the Fanboys here defend the company, choosing to be ignorant of those facts.

SymAndFan, 21 Mar 2012If the goal is to replace a regular SIM card, why going wit... moreI used to have great respect for apple as a company, but the more I learn about the electronic world, the more I lose it.I think I had enough when they someone over slide to unlock. Really apple? you are registering a patent...must be a great new piece of hardware? No? Some cool new trick in ios...? No? Then what? Oh, you are going to patent the fact that you slide your phone to unlock the screen.what would you patent next....the touchscreen? If old companies like nokia and motorola did things like you do, apple, you would never have grown enough balsa to enter the industry
