Weekly poll: Xiaomi Mi Note 10 - is this the new camera king?

10 November 2019
The camera of this phone is one of a kind, but the "Mi Note" family used to be a flagship line - and this isn't quite it.

Xiaomi gone rage on affordable segment these days, right?
Heck, even my Redmi Note 8 is just like a flagship with that very2 low price (albeit software).

For the price a poor phone, it's 550 euro over here and it has a SD730G, meanwhile even Xiaomi their own Mi 9T Pro has a SD855 and is 399 euro.

I know high res cameras are not cheap, but even then it should be way cheaper when looking at the chipset (399 would be a fine price for such camera phone even with a 730G)

I tried to like it, but since I have made a deep assessment about this phone's camera with all the photos from GSMArena's review article... no thanks, I've seen smartphones with far better photo quality than this.

This phone still does not have 5x optical zoom as claimed by Xiaomi (and written on the back of the phone) !! Repeating a lie does not make it true.. GSMarena points this fact out about the fake 5x optical zoom in their review. It is in fact a 3,7x optical zoom cropped to match a 5x zoom focal length !

My Nokia 808 beats its main camera in every aspect, save the dynamic range. Proper big pixels (and a lot of them) is better than quad Bayer gimmick.

PartTimePhoner, 10 Nov 2019Hate it as much as you want, but there are people out there... moreIf u want great camera experience get real camera, not smartphone. We have phone like redmi note 8 pro with great gaming procesor which cost 230€. Mi note 10 should cost 300-350€,not 550€. They now want to take money from peoples cause they are first with 108 mp camera. After one year phones with 108 mp will be 250. Let's be clear here,I support different choices-performance,camera, battery, build quality,os support, but price must be realistic..

Sadly, the Mi Note 10 is an allround mediocre only phone. Its midrange 730 cpu is only mediocre, and same goes for the camera. More MP doesn't mean better quality, and quality-wise, it's easily outclassed by the Huawei P30 or Mate 30. This is especially true at night, as the low light photos are awful, and the absurdly named "night mode" is just an eyewash - does pretty much nothing. Even last year's iPhones, which still lacked a night mode, still took better low light photos.
Sony just makes much better cameras than Samsung.

Overall, the phone is one big disappointment. The MP count is just swashbuckling, without real use, and the midrange cpu can't impress either. Now if this phone was offered at half its current price, at 250€ max., it would still be great value for money, but at ~500€ it's just vastly overpriced for an allround just mediocre phone.

Whackcar, 10 Nov 2019Nah. Realme X2 Pro is a better midranger & Mate 30 Pro ... moreI think you should watch Gsmarena's camera review for this phone. Main camera has fantastic amount of detail, with marginally changing clarity when zoomed. The other cameras aren't superior to flagships and maybe worse than Mate30 Pro and P30 Pro, though. I agree with you in this one. And there is the upper mid-range chipset worse than SD855.

HKNY, 10 Nov 2019I wish Xiaomi sold this phone at the same price or at 600€ ... moreI say wait for the Mi 11 which will come around February-March. I think it will have similiar or even better camera performance and will be equipped with the brand new SND 865.

I wish Xiaomi sold this phone at the same price or at 600€ with SD855 and microSD slot. Then, Mi Note 10 would be a perfect flagship and a very competitive alternative to Oneplus 7T. It is still a very good phone to buy, though.

I'm a bit skeptical at first about its camera. After tons of samples reviewed, studied andddddd.... its excellent for the price, easily one of the best camera around among flagship eventhough its a mid ranger device. - https://youtu.be/aQH2kvTkNQY

The only complains just ditch those low res macro lens. Just make the UWA as macro (Mate 20, P30 & OP7T).

So yes, i vote for 'a great buy'.

AnonD-763241, 10 Nov 2019Then what iphone 12 is going to doCost $699 and still have 64GB base storage but with 3 cameras this time (see the pattern XR 1 / 11 2 /12 3)

Hate it as much as you want, but there are people out there who wants a great camera phone but they have to pay for the gaming performance they didnt ask for and this, my friends, is a solution for that. Had gaming phones with mediocre cameras its time for camera phones with upper midrange game performance

I'd rather have them improve the already existing sensors, rather than slapping on more and more megapixels. It's the same stupid race we have with CPUs and their core count. More isn't always better.

Realme X2 Pro is a better midranger & Mate 30 Pro ... moreThe more megapixels not equal to better camera statement is a stigma and the root source is the sensors back then are small. With 1/1.x sized sensors are making a comeback, more megapixels is justified.
