NeonHD, 04 Dec 2019I bet 8/10 that this is the final design that we'll be seei... moreThe main camera sensor on this is half an inch wide, which is awesome, but means a bump.

I bet 8/10 that this is the final design that we'll be seeing on the S11+.

What the fvck is wrong with OEMs these days with these huge camera bumps??? I mean, the Nokia 9 PureView had 9 cameras, but yet it had no huge camera bump. It's such a stupid design decision that has unfortunately become a contagious trend.

The source claims that the S11+ will be 8.8mm thick (10.2mm with the camera bump).

If the above is true, then of course the device should be thicker, most comments from + & Note users would have no problem with a 1cm thick device, bigger better everything & you would even have room to not remove some of those missing features like the 3.5mm audio port, maybe even have room for an onboard DAC.

I'm glad camera's are continuing to improve & size shouldn't be a constraint, I'm hoping to see improvements in the audio department too.

On one hand they seem to be saying it's too thick, lets remove features.
On the other it's come & buy our thicker foldables.

Kangal, 28 Nov 2019Not really. OnePlus and Pixel can unlock as developers, I ... moreSo only LG and Huawei are locked permanently.
              Others are unlockable.
              Not really a problem.
Infact Realme and Xiaomi encourage unlocking.

I agree before 2014, it was great, no need to unlock bootloader, instant root in 2 min without going through any unlock process.

Anonymous, 28 Nov 2019OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, Asus, Samsung, LG, Sony all ... moreNot really.
OnePlus and Pixel can unlock as developers, I know already, these aren't the devices I was mentioning (look at the vast majority of OEMs and Phones). LG and Huawei cannot at all. Samsung cannot be unlocked officially (Exynos and Knox-tripping). Sony is a little fiddly (they don't want to release Camera Drivers to developers lol). So you're left with only Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme... and none of them produce flagship phones/competitor to the Samsung S-series.

...so you see, they all have locked bootloaders (for security), and most of them are not unlockable. Essentially you are stuck with the goodwill of the OEM for stable, timely and extended updates. Think back to 2010-2014 where most flagships could be unlocked.

It is locked by default coz third party sellers were shipping phones with Spyware and other stuff along with ROM. You have to get permission for that.

                  Only Huawei is locking bootloaders.

Kai Sosceles, 27 Nov 2019Do all these anti-bump people not use a case on their phone... moreThat sounds hilarious! I’ don’t know if they use a case

Anonymous, 27 Nov 2019-Miss the IR blaster. -No flagship out there offers rem... moreSorry, the list was about all Android OEMs and not just Samsung.

User Removable Batteries were one of the best things for Android phones. Now, I get it, the exchange for Waterproofing (IP67 or better) is enticing. However, almost all phones now have Sealed Batteries, but only a few have waterproofing. So overall, we lost something very useful and gained nothing. That's just consumer-hostile.

Yeah, I don't approve of using adapter for IrDa, Headphone Jack, or microSD slot.
Most phones have a locked bootloader now, with no-ways of getting root, recovery, or custom mod/rom/kernel/drivers. Generally you're stuck with 1 platform upgrade (or 2 if lucky), and you get maybe 6 security updates over a span of 2 years (or 12 updates over 3 years if lucky).

OEMs don't care much about the camera quality, they only care about selling as many units as possible with a better profit margin. They deem sensor size, as "not sexy" since it's difficult for their department to market. They instead use multiple small cameras instead and market that, even though the camera quality is worse (or same if lucky).

I say just a purposely released "leak" to prevent their new design from being copied.

Kai Sosceles, 27 Nov 2019Do all these anti-bump people not use a case on their phone... moreHave you never used a properly-designed protective case before? Or do you only use cases for fashion? The case needs to be THICKER than the bump in order to protect the cameras, so it's going to be bulky either way.

Camera bumps are so dumb. Every time you put the phone down, you're scratching the camera lens. If a case is thin enough to only make the camera bump flush, it's still going to scratch the cameras.

Just make the phone thicker, have a bigger battery, and even a thin case will lift the camera away from scratchy surfaces and actually PROTECT the phone.

Looks awesome, and the specs surely sound impressive. I'm in for one, and maybe a second one if my wife wishes to part with her S8 that she uses constantly. Her S8 has been flawless since we purchased it in early 2017.

It's very ugly. And vulgar as it lost all its unique hardware features from previous generations, now is another one in the see of flagships but more ugly than the rest. A horrible piece of glass with the biggest ugly hump and nothing more. Basically a modem with cameras, nothing special or added features. A featureless phone in all sense aside the cameras.

this looks like some garbage from A series I hope this renders are wrong

-No flagship out there offers removable batteries in 2020.

-Will have to use converter for headphones.

-Dual sim and dedicated microSD slot is not there but hybrid slot is there.
Plus there is a 5$ accessory on Amazon which turns the hybrid slot into a fully functioning dual sim slot with microSD.

-S11 will have 108Mp sensor which is huge like the Mi Note 10.

-Did Samsung start locking bootloaders like Huawei??

Definitely gonna upgrade from S10 to s11.
Faster ufs storage, big bump in camera performance, faster charging, high refresh rate display, looks are still ugly so gonna have to put a skin on it or a case that will even out the camera bump,Samsung flagships are pretty thin already, a little bit of thickness is a welcome.
