I flashed 4.0.4 manually through Recovery without a problem because I will never receive OTA in Bosnia. Working without a problem :)

I do believe I've got to the bottom of the Error 7 and there doesn't appear to be a damn thing we can do about it. It appears as though Google has made it so that we can't flash OTA updates manually in stock recovery anymore.
The guys over on the Xoom thread were having the exact same problem with the Xoom WiFi 4.0.4 OTA. Same package.zip error status 7. My friend with a WiFi Xoom got an OTA update on his, so I told him not to install it. Instead we downloaded the OTA update manually and attempted to flash it through stock recovery. It errored out with the package.zip error status 7. So I had him reboot the tablet, go into the OTA software and tap "reboot and install". It flashed without problem.
I have a feeling this will be the exact same thing with the Nexus S. So it looks like we all either wait for the OTA popup on our phones, or we have to unlock our bootloaders, install either a stock Gingerbread or ClockworkMod recovery, then flash the OTA manually.

Anonymous, 29 Mar 2012When will Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 gets official update of... moreit wont get the update. cuz they did give out update of ics to galaxy s, but none worked smooth so they gave out lighter versions of ics to galaxy s.. that too dint work out very smooth and thus they couldnt see any hope for improvements. surely they couldn't just release a buggy version of ics so they decided to call back the update.. its true as it came on GSMarena.. i am not lying.

Pure Google experience indeed. No sign of the update yet in Australia, however my carrier (Vodafone) has announced that they have it in testing. So the update does exist and should be rolled out very soon. My GNex is running 4.0.2 flashed with Google's Official yakju build. I'all update you guys as soon as I receive the update prompt.

Owner of a Nexus S i9020a here in Canada, still on 2.3.6 with Rogers. I did extensive research prior to switching from Apple/ iPhone to my Nexus S. I was mislead by Google & Samsung. Rest assured I WILL NOT recommend Android to anyone and as soon as the opportunity presents itself, I fully intend on going back "home" to Apple.
Google and Samsung fail to provide basic customer sercice and support - ever try contacting them?
Have you ever tried contacting Apple? You can actually speak to highly skilled and knowledgeable technical support person whenever you call!

Here in Canada we're still on 4.01. What's the point of getting a Nexus device if Google is going to rely on Samsung to update it?
I'm seriously reconsidering my loyalty to Android after this experience. If the iPhone comes to my carrier, I might be moving.

Well I was worried thinking that i will be the last guy in receive the update, i've check almost every hour my phone to see if i have a OTA update but nothing, hope it won't last too much to start receiving the update in Spain.

I tried to update my nexus to 4.0.4. But it gave Error with error code 7. I am on Nexus S stock 4.0.3, the tmobile version.
