Samsung unveils 14nm FinFET technology for 144MP image sensors

The researchers thing that going down to 14nm will be necessary for 144MP resolutions. Also, FinFET uses less energy than planar silicon.

      Magustava, 16 Dec 2019Am I the only one who doesn't understand these things :(They make them because they think 12MP is a pretty optimal resolution for the needs we have today. The problem they're working around is that a mass-produced digital sensor is inaccurate and to solve the inaccuracy they use multiple sensors to collect light for each digital pixel by using the best average of what they gather. If a percentage of the pixels are off, they would potentially be able to use the gathered "excess" to figure out by how much said inaccurate pixel is off by.

        Magustava, 16 Dec 2019Am I the only one who doesn't understand these things :(Basically, they're reducing the power needed when you're recording... Usually for someone that record a lot like a vlogger, the battery drains fast... So in theory, you cen record more..
