2019 Winners and Losers: Sony

30 December 2019
Only a few Xperia phones came out this year and even fewer managed to wow us, but the company clearly hasn't lost its taste for innovation.

Xperia 1 is definetely the most underated phone of 2019. It is simply amazing and its 4K OLED screen is the best on the market.

LOL, 03 Jan 2020Can't believe you are calling the Xperia 10 Plus a 'winner'... moreTested one. It is also L3 is a winner for its class. Price is fair now. Do you used one? Troll?

Can't believe you are calling the Xperia 10 Plus a 'winner'. It's an overpriced and crappy midrange phone. Everything about it is bad.

Eventhou i a Sony fanboy, Regardless of what innovation will put on 2020, poor markteting/ advertisement will not change anything fom Sony. How will people buy their phones if no one knows what it is capable of.
Just look at Apple / Samsung getaway even it has an ugly notch because of their marketing strats.

[deleted post]I'm using smart launcher and use swipe down gesture to pull down the notification panel. I think most launchers have gesture options.

I had the z5 compact and complained that sony opt to the 21:9 aspect ratio. Since i can't find a compact replacement for my z5 compact, I bought the XZ3 instead a 6" 18:9. I can grip it alright but sometimes i wish the width should be a bit narrower so that my thumb can reach across the edge like i had with the z5 compact. The xperia 5 came into mind since it's only 3mm wider to the z5c. So maybe if sony can make a 5.8" 21:9 it would the next gen compact.

As Sony fan i guess They miss da "compact" version. I personally do like Compact series. It will give me a chill imaginin Sony will make a 4k latest snapdragon Perfect camera with good software crazy battery Atmos sound phone beast in a compact form. and yes please we dont need a foldable plastic screen. 4k oled will do us fine

[deleted post]The 19:9 display ratio is tall, the 21:9 even taller so the field of view must be wider on 21:9, the android has the gesture to pull down the notification every easy that's a solution, so either 19:9 or 21:9 also require the gesture to pull down the notification. Which is the more compact one? Yes from the width the 21:9 is narrower better for one hand control because you can grip it firmly than those chubby one. If you don't understand, please hold your phone with your right hand and stretch your thumb to reach the "q" of the qwerty keyboard see how far you can reached! You have a hard time there.

Qnovo is actually one of Lenovo's inventions.

Now I'm using a China phone with a waterdrop design, it has 19:9 display ratio, I can say I am regret because the waterdrop design isn't a good solution, it has smaller notification icons and battery indicator which is hard to see when bright situations, it also a black protruding island on the top of the display which is every annoying so I hide it as a bezel, so it is not bezel-less either! With the19:9 display ratio I have to reposition my and to reach my finger to the notification everytime it is not compact either.

Yes Xperia 5 also without notch or hole to broke your viewing experience.

                                      Winner: Xperia 5

Is this the same overpriced Xperia 5 that has no 3.5mm port, no FM radio, needs fingers like ET to reach the top and is about as compact as a Big Mac?

it is useless to make more performing batteries ... and then to shrink every year. under stress do not exceed the day, I continue to buy more
