Are they really continuing these shitty 12 MP cameras in 2020 too?! I refrained from buying the Note 10 Plus due to the shitty camera and now they put another 12 MP camera in S11 Plus..

Guess I'm jumping on the Huawei P40 Pro next year then.

Nick Tagataka, 22 Dec 2019So you conveniently decided to skip over texture rendition,... moreYeah mate 30 pro shines at those too.. But it massively outscored in zoom

I thought about it. The ultimate zoom capabilities for a smartphone would be the full frame equivalents of:
              1. 12mm (which the wide angle is right now). They could reduce it by 2mm to make it 10mm to cater for crop for distortion correction.
              2. 35mm this could be the largest sensor, like the 108MP one or even a 64MP one, if its has (much) faster readout.
              3. 100mm
              4. 200mm
              5. 500mm

All other sensors need to produce a minimum of 12MP photos, and have OIS (or superb EIS). And lenses should be a minimum of f2.2 or preferably f2.

An issue which one has to address is that with longer zooms, the light fall off is greater, and the stabilisation is considerably worse. Which means that the lenses keep getting less bright,, and the stabilization is considerably worse.

Samsung isnxenditelt on the right path. With great memory, RAM, screen, UI, they just need to ensure that their cameras are the best. Preferably atleast by a margin.

Bill Jobs, 21 Dec 2019In dxo score the mate 30 only shine in zoom shoot or nothing elseSo you conveniently decided to skip over texture rendition, noise reduction, artifacts suppression, autofocus accuracy and night photos, where it also excels and scores the highest/second highest among the tested devices. Sure it "only" shines in zoom.

It suggest it's something close to 20:9 ratio but there is no way in hell side from the screen to edge of the frame is only 2mm on each side unless screen is curved in which case it doesn't have usable area of 6.2" or frame is flat and screen's edge sits right on top of it for prefect top alignment which cannot be done without shattering your screen on the first drop.

I don't really care about digital or optical zoom, but I do care about dimensions. Galaxy S11e going from 5.8" to 6.2" is a big loss to me.

Jake420, 21 Dec 2019It's been confirmed to be 100x lossless zoom twice You are funny! Very funny! :)))) It is not lossless zoom! There is no way to make a phone to have 100x lossless zoom, it will have digital zoom at that high level!

[deleted post]I literally suggested Bill Jobs to look up on those websites so that he can check photos from each phone taken under the same conditions at full resolution, not to read their reviews. And do you ACTUALLY think Anandtech is fudging benchmark results and editing photos so that they can get people into thinking iPhone is the best? You say they are biased, but do you have any evidence on that? If no then I don't have any reason to waste my time on your conspiracy theory, bye.

In fact, I wasn't even talking about the colour saturation in the first place. What I was saying is that aggressive HDR processing is leading to loss of micro contrast and details on previous Samsung devices. HDR++? You clearly sound like a person who hasn't owned *any* phone at all let alone used a camera function on a phone. How about you make sure you get an idea of what you're saying before accusing other people of lying?

Now everyone's talking about ZOOM capabilities. How about they give us just 2 lenses.
One lens for wide and one normal and make them superb.

By focusing on the ZOOM function (nobody needs it) they take effort off the main lenses.
By shooting with a zoom lens it's stupid. It's like wanting to have a photo that came out of a phone from the year 2011 or something.

Probably it's better if you take a look at full resolution samples from each phone. I recommend DxOMark and Anandtech for that purpose.
