Kress, 24 Dec 2019With added malware and trojans. No thanks, but you can use ... moreWho uses digital devices as wallet anyway? Physical bills are always better. I'm from the Philippines so I'll never understand the ease of digital pay; If ever, I only top up digital currency with physical money. I rather pay with coins and paper bills than that which can be hacked and owned. Physical money can't be hacked, just only stolen.

Huawei Started it. Now every mobile would follow the same.
Every mobile company would now prioritize their own app store and the apps.
It is a fall back for Google than Huawei.

Anonymous, 24 Dec 2019YVLR better than original YouTube app. Maps is a tough one... moreYour first alternative is a malware store. Good job.
Your second alternative contains only free apps... when uploaded by someone else.
Your third alternative sounds as sketchy as Aptoide.

Maps: For people, that remaining 10% might be a dealbreaker, and believe me, Google will make sure it is. Also Google seems to have a lot of partnerships with cities and transit authorities for live schedules, roadblocks etc...
YT: I'm not sure what this is. Personally I use YT Vanced. If your alternative just access YouTube, it's not really an alternative, but more of a bypass of the problem without actually solving it.

              - alternatives to gmaps just couldn't compare to it. the closest alternative is apple maps, which have been in development since 2012 but still couldn't compete with gmaps, and it is exclusive to apple devices.
              - email. yes, there are alternatives but nothing compares to gmail.
              - play store alternatives are simply unreliable. the play store itself, despite its security features, still some malicious apps slip by from time to time. so, what more with these alternatives you proposed who do not even have strong security features.

i am not defending google here. it's just that this is the reality. i have commented before that i would like to see huawei come up with its own os to compete with google, but this is something that cannot be done in an instant.

To be fair the latest workaround allows you to install Google apps through LZPlay app without major issues (except for the failed SafetyNet, of course). Obviously I don't recommend most people to get Huawei phones due to existing conflicts, but at least you now don't need to get one with pre-installed Google Services from AliExpress in case you want one.

I'm planning to replace my S10 and P30 with S11 Plus, but if P40 Pro turns out to be a great camera phone and the workaround still works I might just buy that as well.

YouTube, maps and gmail are three services that hard to beat. Google need years to make YouTube the only platform we watch video. They need years AND billion of Android devices to make their maps work reliable and force Android user to make gmail and get used to it.

Anonymous, 24 Dec 2019CEO of Google is Indian. Exactly! He made his point.

Is that's the reason that Google and it devices has failed to impress consumers/shareholders in years?

I think the hardest alternative will be Youtube, but i doubt a big company like Huawei won't find a good alternative. Plus, Gboard is, imo, the Worst keyboard available. Swiftkey and Apple's are a ton better.
Sheeps can't see it but, in the end, the consumer wins. So go Huawei, i'm all for it.
(I'm european, so no, i am not biased, have a good day).

All Android apps from playstore will work, you just have to download the apk from some other source like apkmirror or Aptiode.

Only some Google services won't work properly.
Plenty of ppl used AOSP ROMS for eternity without encountering problems.
On those platforms, it was optional to flash gapps.
