Sony began seeding ICS update to the 2011 Xperia lineup

    Here is my Review
    Phone: Neo V MT11a
    Kernel: NightElf RC2
    ROM: Android 4.0.3 Nordic

    Good:
    -Android 4.0.3 Features:
    *Holo Theme and Roboto Font
    *Task Switcher
    *Faster Web Browser
    *Face Unlock
    *Gallery (ICS)
    *Smooth Scroll
    *Google Apps
    -And
    *200MB Free RAM after remove some Useless Apps
    *Camera UI

    Bad
    *Same UI from GB with different theme/icons:
    -Contacts (FAIL)
    -Conversation (FAIL)
    -Clock
    -Widgets and Wallpapers (FAIL)
    -Music Player (FAIL)
    -Radio
    -Keyboard (FAIL)
    -Slide to Unlock (in 2012?)
    .....etc.

    Ugly/Shame
    *Lag (Even with Custom Kernel and OC @ 1.8Ghz, GPU acceleration does not help)
    *Xperia Galley (COME ON SONY...the GB gallery unoptimized from 2.3.7 in 4.0.3? FAIL)
    *Performance assistant (What a Joke! I can disable JUST 2 Service: ANT+ and Facebook in Xperia, lol)

    Conclusion
    I am going Back to Stock ROM with NightlEf Kernel... Everything was fast and smoother, with NXT Music Player, Widgets, Launcher ETC. I cant believe that Sony delay ICS just to release the BETA with FIXES. I am not a developer, but seeing their work a port is not hard...but if SONY port something from 2.3.4 Why they did not port EVERYTHING from 2.3.7 Xperia Phones to this update? FAIL, but maybe in the future, Sony (or developers)will update the Kernel and/or UI when sony release Android 4.0.4 (I guess) to NXT series.


    PS. Widgets from NXT don't work, The Music Player Yes but without Equalizer/Clear Bass (Force Close)

            I am from India.I just updated ICS with my neo v manually(without root).100% working.face lock working good.
            ICS really worth for updating.

                    Hi, I'm sorry but I think Sony have made up their minds that X10 won't get a taste of the Ice Cream Sandwich since it comes off the box not running Gingerbread. If it was to be updated it would be the last.

                                You can check if the update is now available for your Xperia device by looking up for it's Sales Item (SI) number at http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35144 . You can check your SI number by removing the battery of your device and looking at the label just below the 'Sony Ericsson' text. Alternatively, you can dial *#*#7378423#*#* and tap Service info > Software info and look for the Customization Version.

                                You can update by using the PC Companion software available for Mac OS and Windows. There will be no OTA update that will be released.

                                    Is it not yet available here in the Philippines? I'm hearing a lot of great feedback from those who had their updates. See, it pays to wait for the update and getting it all smooth and great than nagging about it (comments from last review about it being moved to mid-April).

                                    Good job to SONY but please make it available to us. *wink*
