Lumias aren't competitive enough, say European carriers

17 April, 2012
The high price tags, mediocre marketing plans and some software issues are to blame.

Tom, 17 Apr 2012How can these phones be competetive when the Lumia 900 whic... moreThe Lumia 900 doesn't record 1080p video? I'm curious: how many people in this forum have ever recorded 1080p video on their phone? Most people wouldn't even be able to see the difference between 1080p and 1080i on their plasma screen... HD TV is 1080i, and people are happy to watch films from TV instead of renting a Blu-ray.

Thanks god my lumia is second phone.. Compared to my iPhone 4s or htc sensation picture quality of really is really BAD which can't be compared at all.. I've installed more then 40 apps and got stupid letter in the app list and there is no way to remove it anymore unless I fully reset the phone, there is no backup unless picture and video... Totally useless... Have always to keep phone book updated via Bluetooth with my iPhone cause is the only way to have 2 mobile number under a name... If numbers are not stored as mobile u can't SMS them.. Nice having seen a real combination of loser windows phone + Nokia...
Wish Elop can read this post and comment properly... 1 year to come on the market with such expensive bullshit!

And the challenges is program to be won by a Windows phone, you can't chose a challenge that winning of WP is low.

AnonD-11127, 17 Apr 2012Guys, relax. Samsung is the smart one. They made Androids a... moreThats where you and ALOT of Android fans are wrong. MeeGo is not based in Linux like Android, MeeGo IS the complete Linux. MeeGo can run Android inside it's OS, Android can't do the same with MeeGo.

MeeGo is more powerful than Android. Android is more popular than MeeGo.

Also most people don't even realize that the N9 doesn't run actual MeeGo. It's a partial form of MeeGo and even running the partial form, it managed to generate more demand than supply and sold out really quick.

Also watch when Android FINALLY comes out with a 64GB Internal Storage phone, how Android fans start speaking as if they were the first to do that too.

Android would generate some buzz with Nokia and it would help Nokia Sell devices, but MeeGo would help Nokia sell AND most importantly, Differentiate themselves from the competition.

If they're worried about apps, just use Android's. MeeGo is capable of doing that until it has a stable amount of apps to support itself.

If Nokia goes back and FULLY supports Meego, I'll start back supporting them and change my username back to MeeGo Revolution. They don't have to stop making WP Nokias, just push the focus more toward MeeGo than WP.

"No one comes into the store and asks for a Windows phone.. ", "... If the Lumia with the same hardware came with Android in it and not Windows, it would be much easier to sell."

well, that comment said it all..
I hope nokia read that and realize their mistake. They really have big potential.

see guys,Nokia Lumia 900 will be priced at around 30,000 INR when it will be launched here in India. Just as the case was with Lumia 800. But at the price range of 30,000 INR we have other options like Samsung Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note, Sony Xperia ARC S, Sony Xperia S, HTC Sensation XE. Add around 4,000 and at 34,000 INR you get an iPhone4. So it basically makes sense that people will opt for these devices rather than Lumia 900 at that price point. Lumia 900 for its specs is overpriced thats why Nokia is loosing market. Ask yourself which one would you choose ?? If it was me, i would have chosen HTC Senation XE or Samsung Galaxy SII at that price point instead of Lumia 900. By the way I am using iPhone4S

Nokia makes good phone. No question about it. The problem is their price point. If you look at the specs of their phones and the price tag for it, they are indeed overpriced. Let's take N9 as an example. It uses the same CPU, GPU, and chipset as the LG black yet they priced it to compete with SG2S.

Nokia needs to humble itself. They're not a premium brand anymore.

Guys, relax. Samsung is the smart one. They made Androids and WP. Whichever people liked, they got their money. MeeGo is based on Linux just like Android. Now that shows which is more powerful.

Secondly, it's good that we have more options. WP better than android or worse, it doesn't matter. It's leads to innovation. Every tech expert agrees that iPhone grew so much because of the competition from android. Now if WP grows, it will only benefit us. Android will be more serious with the competition.
I would welcome any OS. If you are the CEO of Apple or Samsung, I'm sorry, but for the rest of us, it's definitely an advantage. Us refering to the consumers.

Microsoft realised that their WM failed terribly so they changed the name to another one. When a specific brand fails, the most companies do it. It is basically the same thing, a mobile OS. It's a new version with new features. Don't tell me that it's completely different and blah blah. Android Gingerbread is completely different from ICS. In almost every sense. Why don't you call that new too then?

first : Lumia cannot be called "available since December", I know because it was not easy to get it. And there are markets in Europe were is still to arrive ... so ...

second: "not innovative" = you didn't used it. I know it can't cook but as cellphone is pretty damn good and fast.

third: "others pointing out the poor quality of the screen and battery life" i won't argue about the know battery life issues BUT "poor screen quality" ??????

sorry but in order to pass an opinion you need to demonstrate some basic reasoning. then calling a failure after 3 months on the market doesn't point out particularly bright minds with the faintest knowledge of technology or the product itself
